*May be a possible break in my studies as I transition into the role of human resource manager.

ObstaclesMy supervisor is supportive of me earning a masters degree, however she is not supportive of the Adult Education and Training graduate degree. She does not believe this degree will help me in my human resource career. I believe my supervisor does not understand the components of this degree and how I can incorporate my studies into a human resource role. I believe this is an added obstacle for me as I complete my degree and to prove this is a relevant and needed degree. TimeIn September I will begin to learn the duties and responsibilities of a human resource manager because my immediate supervisor is retiring and I am next in line to assume her position and role as human resource manager. Learning her job while maintaining my current responsibilities will be time consuming both in and outside my normal working hours. Financial obligationsBecause I do not want to be in debt when I graduate, I plan to pay for my education as I progress through the program or with available graduate scholarships.

Plan for a break-

I intend to continue my studies without a break as long as I have monetary funding and my work responsibilities do not interfere. Strongest supportersMy strongest supporters are family and colleagues. DetractorsMy supervisor is supportive of me earning a masters degree, however she constantly comments that I should pursue a degree in public administration. Hopefully as I continue this degree, I will be able to persuade my supervisor that this is an appropriate major of study for human resources. Learning and mastering the additional responsibilities of becoming a human resource manager starting September 2012.
