Reading Together - This will occur the first Saturday morning in September. It will be an introduction to Bagels and Books, a monthly book club meeting involving students, parents, faculty, staff, and community. On a monthly basis, participants will meet to discuss books and engage in conversation around literacy. Family Literacy Night - This will occur the second week in October. It will take place at the school but will partner with the local library. Essentially students, parents, faculty, and staff are invited to meet and get to know each other. From the school, participants will be asked to walk to the library to get a card, meet the librarians, and learn the resources of the library. This networking event is intended to begin to build comfort among all participants involved in the education of the student. Schools Out For SummerYear Review and Summer Planning

June Literary Event

Summer Reading Challenge - This event will take place the second Saturday of June. The school will invite students, parents, faculty, staff, and community to BBQ held at the school. We will have raffles and prizes for reading challenges, etc. We will review our progress and experience through a gallery walk. We will end with a summer reading list that involves independent checkout of books from the local library.

Note The months of September and June are scheduled as all faculty professional development. From there, the first week of each month is intended for all faculty. Week 3 is a drop in, content area break out, or cross curricular break out. Additional PD can be provided for small groups, course teams, departments, or interested participants at any time. Note Each month is centered on a certain area of the literacy program. For each session, a research based article will be provided. This is distributed to the staff 1 week prior to the event. Note One week after each week 1 session, teachers will be asked to contact the literacy specialist for more specific information or next steps regarding the topica quick informal survey.
