Michael Rudisill Unit 2 Project Management Application Project Title-Rudisills Bar and Grill: Grand Opening A.

Background Rudisills Bar and Grill located in downtown Raleigh, across the street from the Raleigh Convention Center has recently received funding to be rebuilt and renovated due to an unfortunate fire that took place 2 years ago. Currently all of the proper paperwork has been filed with the local government to begin reconstruction. Prior to the fire, the restaurant had been a popular fixture and retreat in the downtown area, responsible for large tourist revenue streams in the downtown area. B. Task The construction company (Mikes Construction Crew, Inc.) has been awarded the contract to begin all construction and renovations beginning Dec 20, 2013. The buildings foundation is intact, along with all the partitions within the structure, but requires renovation. The phases of the reconstruction project are outlined in part D Approach below. Each phase is not dependent on the completion of the other and can be completed independently. C. Objectives The objective of this project is to have Rudisills Bar and Gr ill completely rebuilt and opened to the general public by June 1, 2014 (grand opening). D. Approach The project will consist of multiple phases/milestones that are to be completed and are listed below: Phase I- Parking structure this consists of all construction related to the parking area. To be completed by Jan 20, 2014. Phase II- Kitchen/Restroom this consists of all remodeling, replacement of all kitchen equipment. To be completed by Jan 30, 2014. Phase III- Main dining area/bar this consists of all remodeling, replacement of all dining and bar equipment/furniture. To be completed by Feb 15, 2014. Phase IV- Administrative offices this consists of all remodeling, replacement of office furniture, filing systems, and computers. To be completed by Feb 25, 2014. Phase V- Main entrance this consists of all remodeling, replacement of lounge furniture, host stations, etc. To be completed by March 12, 2014. Phase VI- Information Technology/Electronic functions this consists of the installation of all IT related equipment and software, along with large screen TVs (12). To be completed by April 25, 2014. Phase VII- Purchasing/Employee training this consists of completing all of the purchasing requirements, from food to beverages. This phase includes training of employees. To be completed by May 15, 2014.

1. Explain how a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) will help facilitate this project. The Work Breakdown Structure will help in terms of laying the foundation for getting the reopening completed by the assigned reopening date. It provides a blueprint on how to accomplish the ultimate goal. For instance, it outlines the goals, identifies the organizational structure, outlines the costs associated with the project, and tracks the status of the project.
