social or political status Nelson Mandela was born in the Royal House of Thembu, of the Madiba clan. This is probably why hes also referred to as Madiba. The name Madiba is specially reserved for important rulers and chiefs. Although he mentioned that friends and relatives would ascribe to my birth name the many storms I have both caused and weathered. He most likely stated this because his grandfather noticed him as Rolihlahla, meaning troublemaker. (Protester by Alex Perry) E for Enterprising-having or showing initiative and resourcefulness He went through many struggles, seeing as though hes been in prison quite often. Even though he was behind bars, he defeated the apartheid of South Africa. He inspired his enemies to eliminate racism, thus causing peace between blacks and whites in South Africa. According to Alex Perry, He was considered the most admired person on earth. Eventually he became an icon of both peace and wisdom. (Protester by Alex Perry) L for Liberating-to set free from oppression, confinement, and foreign control Its been stated that Mandela had rebellion in his blood. His path of revolution started when he was sent to school. He left behind the old world, the more he continued to discover new worlds. Hed have made his way, even though it was tough, and he relished the new beginning.

S for Symbolic-serving as a symbol During his time in prison, he was an angry, young activist. He learned to be more generous. It was then when released from prison, he quoted, I wanted South Africa to see that I loved even my enemies while I hated the system that turned us against each other. Sadly, not many have followed his words. Black protesters were shot by white security forces. He seemed to have married three times throughout his lifetime. He had four children with Evelyn Mase. When he married Winnie Madikizela, they had two children. He then married Grace Machel, whom he remained until his death in 2013 stated by online sources. He claimed, we would fight inside as we had fought outside. We meaning him and his comrades, along with his enemies. Mandela and his comrades improved conditions through protests and petitions.
