crs moissNOTES
Every care has been taken during the manufacture ofthese fre pumps to ensue that they leave
the factory capable of giving a long period of rouble-re running.
Correct lubrication and maintenance is essential if satislactory performance is to be maintained.
Part A ofthis manval deals with the pump nit and Part with the Nissan MALO engine unit
‘The pump serial number must be quoted in all communications.
IMPORTANT NOTES
(1) ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEMS - The electronic output from an electronic ignition
system i far higher than that cbained from conventional ignition systems.
itis therefore recommended that service personnel and aperators take all possible precautions
st ceceiving an elecrial shock from any part of te system. This is partcultly important
for persons having a medically-implanted heart pacemaker and for those who have, or suspect
‘that they have, a heart condition.
(2) PLEASE NOTE - This pump may only be un in a dy condition during the priming proce-
lure ie typically 30 seconds at approximately 2500 rpm, Note: Care shouldbe taken if ex-
‘ceding these figures as terminal damage may occur to he gland seal components if water is not
present in the pump casing to cool and lubricate these components. .
(@) PREVENTING ACCIDENTAL STARTING -To prevent the engine from being sccidentally
started while work is being performed onthe engine, pump or eletrcal systems, disconnect the
battery acbles and spark plug leads
GENERAL NOTE
‘The terms ‘Left-Hand (LH) and Right-Hand’ (RE) used in this book apply when the pumping

DELIVERY VALVES
‘By turing the handwheel counter-clockwise the valve canbe opened forthe discharge of water.
When the valve is open and no water is being discharged the valve seats held against the volute
cischarge port by a spring inthe valve body.
‘When the pum is priming the valve seal acts asa non~etun valve so that the prime is not lost.
‘The release knob allows the vaive seat tobe ted higher han normal by turing the handwheel
With the release knob palled ost. This operation is only carried out after the pump hes been
stopped, It will allow the valve seal to be rised above the volute discharge pot and enable
‘wate to drain past the valve from hoses and dry risers.
