Job Shadow questions

1. Was the job shadow you completed the same career field you identified in your career PowerPoint? If you completed the experience in another field, explain why there was a need to change career fields. (i.e., I was not able to set up a job shadow experience in my intended career field OR After taking a closer look at the field, I found that I was more interested in).

a. Yes, the job shadow completed was the career field I would like to go in, but I was not able to do everything I would like because of the confidentiality of the patients. Although, I did not get a chance to job shadow an interior decorator. 2. As a result of your job shadow experience, are you still planning to pursue the same career or has the experience led you in a new direction? Explain. b. As a result of my job shadow experience I am still considering this career because when I was working I got a chance to see how helpful nurses can be and I love helping others. 3. During your job shadow, what skills did you observe that are needed to be proficient at this career? a. During this job shadow, the skills I learned that are proficient in this career is communication skills, good speaking skills, dedication, and compassion. 4. What activities and or duties did you like/dislike about the experience? a. The activities and duties that I liked and disliked about this experience was caring for the papers and administering the wounds of patients. I liked seeing the nurses care for the patients it showed a gentle side of them. I disliked seeing them care for the wounds of people.

5. Do you see yourself doing this job for the duration of your working career? (i.e., 15 to 20 years in the same field) a. Yes, I see myself doing this job for the duration of my working career because nurses have to be licensed in different areas. They make way of possibilities for people; they get to give happiness to others. 6. Aside from academic preparation in school, what are some other things that you can do in order to prepare for your intended career field? a. Besides my academic preparation in school, other things I could do to prepare for my intended career is study better, get better reading skills,. 7. Is there any important tips and or advice you were given by your mentor concerning your career field? a. Some tips or advice that was given to me by my mentor was to be compassionate and understanding. Also, to make mistakes but be precise and know what youre doing. 8. Considering everything you have learned, what is most invaluable lesson you have learned from your job shadowing experience, and how will this help you to move forward in your intended career field? a. Considering everything I have learned, the most valuable lesson I learned from this job experience was that you do make big differences in people lives when you can make them smile and feel better.
