A Peek at Our Week:
Reading: We will continue a project-based learning unit to study genres of literature. Math: We will continue our unit on geometry. Test on Friday

Reminders:
For the month of April Beta Club will be hosting the Pennies for Patients fundraiser benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Each teacher will be given a class bank and individual student banks to collect money for the fundraiser. On the Thursday of each week a Beta Club member will come collect each classs money at 2:15. The weekly total will go towards a school wide competition. The winning class will win a popsicle party and the winning grade level will be rewarded with a treat for each student.

Writing: We will finish our butterfly reports and make a craft to go on our hallway display. Science/Social Studies: We will start a unit on communities.

Sound Check:
We will be learning about words with suffixes and double consonants. We will be learn how to drop the silent E (hoping) before adding a suffix and doubling the final consonant in short vowel words (hopped).

Getting 2nd Grade Ready:


Math Common Core Standard: 2.OA.1: Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
