1. What is a Pattern? Ans: Pattern of a Garment is a template or blueprint, based on which the parts of a garment are cut from fabric. The patterns can be prepared using strong brown papers, strong white paper or cardboard. These are called Paper Patterns. 2. Who designs patterns? Ans: Experienced Pattern Masters design Pattern. 3. How long is the training curve for a Pattern maker? Ans: Training curve for a pattern maker is Three to Six Months depending on individuals aptitude. 4. What patternmaking software do we use in VF Asia and its regional offices? Ans: VF Asia and its regional offices are using Gerber, Accumark technology for pattern making. In 3rd Way at Arunima Group we use Gerber for Pattern making. 5. How are individual pattern files saved? Under what file format extension? Ans: First e-pattern is made according to PDM to Garber software. Then it is saved to an assigned folder under the file extension of .pds. 6. How are pattern names decided? What nomenclature, if any, does VF use to name patterns? Ans: Pattern names are decided according to their vendor, style parts &fabric type. Nomenclatures

8. What is meant by shell pattern pieces? What is meant by lining or non-shell pattern pieces? Ans: Shell Pattern Pieces means pattern made for Body Fabric i.e. shell fabric, A shell fabric is the outer layer of warm clothing or it can be a single-layer outer jacket or shirt. Pattern made for lining fabric are called lining or non-shell pattern pieces. 9. What is Grading and why is it important? Ans: Pattern grading is an essential part of pattern making because Grading rules determine how patterns increase or decrease to create different sizes. Fabric type also influences the pattern grading standards. Generally, pattern grading adjusts for people of different ages and genders.

10. What quality checks do we have in pattern-making? Know the importance of patterns in high volume manufacturing. Ans: Quality Checks in Pattern Making are: 1. Pattern Block Number Checking 2.
