March 25,2014 Re: McKinley Powell

To Whom lt May Concern:

McKinley Powell was a student in the Teacher Preparation program at the Urban lnstitute for Teacher Education (UITE), at the University of Utah. I was McKinley's supervisor for her student teaching experience, as well as her instructor for several courses during her college experience.
McKinley did a great job during her student teaching experience. She was assigned to a second grade classroom in an at-risk school in Granite School District. From the very beginning, Ms. Powell took advantage of every teaching opportunity and continued to develop and improve her skills during the eightmonth experience.

was impressed with the skills that McKinley developed as a teacher. Of particular note, was the development of Ms. Powell's consistent behavior plans for challenging students. She was pleasant, consistent, and calm in her organization and created an effective atmosphere. McKinley could incorporate simple assessments into her lessons to monitor the progress of the students' skill development and understanding of the lesson. McKinley had a wonderful rapport with the students and created consistent lessons.
I

McKinley completed all assignments in a timely manner, even with the busy schedule of a student teacher. Her confidence level is high and she puts in all the necessary work to develop her teaching skills, always wanting to improve. I also appreciated the fact that McKinley is very pleasant and positive at all times.
I highly recommend that McKinley Powell be hired as an elementary school teacher. I would have no hesitation in placing McKinley in charge of a classroom. She will meet every challenge and be a wonderfulteacher.
