Beasley has great hopes and dreams for Appalachian.

I not only envision Appalachian being

one of the top schools in communication
in North Carolina, I think that over the
next few years it will become the premier
school of broadcast communications in
the Southeast and maybe one of the top

Another great feature is the creation of
app.cable 21, a brand new television

This station was created with the goal of
drawing news from major cities within
North Carolina right to the screen of local

complex is Appalachians radio station,

90.5 WASU. The station is organized and
run by students in the broadcasting major.
This opportunity provides students with
real-world experience in state of the art
settings. With the upgrade of equipment
and location comes the ability to learn in
an environment that students will come
into contact with after graduation.

State-of-the-art isnt just a saying anymore. This phrase, within the broadcasting world on Appalachians campus, has
become a reality. Within the complex this
popular phrase takes on the shape of
modern, real-time equipment. It means
that moving from one location to another
is as simple as a tap of a button on a
smartphone. It means DJs have the ability
to mix and go live from a computer 300
miles away from Appalachians campus.
