Name: Reginald Todd Lesson Title: The interrelationship between the environment and personal health. 1.ozone layer/skin cancer 2.availability of healthcare/ individual health 3. air pollution/respiratory disease 4.breeding environments/ lyme disease/west nile virus Content Area: Grade Level: 9th Grade Stage I: Identify Desired Results Enduring Understandings 1. Understand the causes of ozone depletion and how it leads to skin cancer. 2. Understand how the availability of healthcare affects personal health. 3. Understand the causes of air pollution and how it can lead to respiratory disease. 4. Understand how changes in the environment can create breeding environments for diseases.

Essential Questions 1. What are the the causes of ozone depletion?. Students will understand how depletions in the ozone layer causes skin cancer? 2. What are some of the issues regarding availability of healthcare and how it relates to individual health? 3. What precautions can be taken in order to prevent overexposure to UV radiation? 4. What are some of the issues regarding availability of healthcare to all people? 5. How does health care affect personal health? 6. What special programs are available to help those lacking health care? 7. What are the causes of air pollution? 8 .What are the types of pollution that lead to respiratory disease? 9. What respiratory diseases that are caused by air pollution? 10.What environmental changes have occurred which lead to breeding environments? 11.What are some diseases or viruses that are products of breeding environments?

STAGE III: Plan Learning Experiences and Instruction 1.Materials: Computers/Quiz/Handouts Procedures Step 1)

T: Present their personally made Prezi highlighting main points and explain in further detail the topic. Pass out handout of and focus questions for the lesson. S: Ask questions or give feedback about content during lecture. Step 2) T: Teacher will divide students into groups of three S: Will select a topic from the 4 main points we discussed as a group Step) 3) T: Will instruct students to research their topic using the internet and save any multi media which may aid in their presentation. S: Research their topic in further depth and save multi-media for presentation while collaborating and working as a team to brainstorm ideas. Students will look to find answers to the focus questions regarding their topic during research. Step 4) T: Teacher will answer questions and help when needed during presentation construction S: Construct Prezi in groups and ask appropriate questions to solve problems Step 5) T. Will instruct students to save finished work and create a link so it may be graded S. E-Mail Prezi Link to teacher

3) Closure: Students will be given a 4 question quiz listing the four environmental concerns and respond with how they can affect health.

4) If time activity: Students will present their Prezi in class if given time
