Getting To Know you Activity Interview your Teacher and Classmates: For this activity students will interview

me as their teacher and each other. Prior to the activity: I will discuss with the class the purpose of interview. Afterward as a class we will come up with themes that will help students in formulating interview questions. I will facilitate their response to the following themes: Themes: Hobbies Skills/Talent How many siblings Where you were born People you look up to and why Short-term and long-term goals Work / volunteer Weekends and after school activities What is the best way you learn Career goals and why they have chosen the career. Other countries or states you lived Other languages?

I will give the student quick overview of how the activity will work. Also, I will ask the student to take notes and at the end of the activity they will write a reflection paragraph on what they have learned in this activity. Students will write at least three facts they have learned about me and three of their classmates (1 fact for each classmate). Teacher Interview: I will start this activity with individual work for the first 5 minutes. Students will be given 5 min to come up interview questions to ask me. Thereafter, I will assign students into groups by counting of students 1-5 and creating 6 groups. I will give the students 5 minute to discuss within their groups their individual interview questions and put together a group interview questions for me. Thereafter, we will come together as a class and each group will ask me their questions. Student Interview: Within their same groups, students will be given 5 minutes to make their interview questions applicable to their classmates. The students will then interview students from another group. For example, students from group 1 will interview students from group 2. Students from group 3 will interview students from group 4. Students from group 5 will interview students from group 6. Students will rotate between peers in their paired group every 3-5 minutes. Afterwards, I will call

one student at a time in front of the class and I will also call all the students that interviewed him/her to share with the class information about the particular student. Wrap up: Student will write a reflection what they have learned from the activity. For example, they will write 3 facts they have learned about me and one fact about 3 of their classmates ( one fact per classmate) . Homework: Students will take the following survey questionnaires as homework and bring back the following class.
