The Ambiguous Ending of The Giver Lois Lowry leaves readers hanging with the final pages of her

novel The Giver by not giving us a direct ending. Now, it is your turn to be the author! In your groups, you will rewrite the ending of this novel. Do not change the events leading up to the final moments of the book. You may choose to use one of the options we discussed in class, or you can make a completely different ending. The choice is up to you! In your group, you will use the white paper to brainstorm your ending, and then write at least 2 paragraphs worth of an ending. After writing the ending, you and your group members will act out the ending for the rest of your peers! The performance can be no longer than five minutes, and props are allowed. Not every group member has to be a character, but they all must be involved in the performance (playing a prop, making sound effects, etc.) Use the rest of the class period to work on your endings and to develop your performance!
