Jesse Olmstead Raymond English 1102 24 February 2014 The Pro In Prohibition Prohibition comes with a negative connotation

when its speaking of in todays society. It seems fitting. There should be no limit on how much a man can enjoy his favorite beverage. For college students, alcohol is a necessity for a good time. Yet, take a better look at drunken America. Its to common to hear about the drunken uncle going in and out of rehab. During prohibition 6 million was added to the economy, since states did not have to fund institutions to curve the problem (Hall). The economy gained 6 million dollars, all because America took the bottle out of some mens hands. In the sense, this lead to productivity from workers on the job scene. In fact, employers who participated in studies found their workers actually had 95% better productivity day-to-day (Hall). So why would America not want 6 million more dollars by 1920s standards and 95% better productivity today? Easy, prohibition did not actually work. During the time period of prohibition, the United States also went through an economic depression. It is difficult to separate any persistent effects of prohibition from the effects of the great depression because of course workers are going to work as state by Hall, their lives depended on it (Hall). During the depression, many had to find better uses of their money.
