Goal Analysis Instructional designer will design, develop, implement and evaluate an interactive elearning module for adult learners. This electronic guide will be hosted online. The (SME), subject matter expert will have the assistance of instructional designers to aid in the progress of the design and development of this electronic guide. This guide will introduce the learners to basic T-Rex property management software functions. Format of the electronic guide will be determined through a collaborative, consensus-building discussion between the SME and the instructional designers.

Introduction Instructional designers will design and implement electronic guide using Web 2.0 tools. Instructional design is the systematic process of translating general principles of learning and instruction into plans for instructional materials and learning. Our role as instructional designers is to provide alternate e-learning tools and concepts. The learners will transition from the traditional office environment and merge into the online setting. The proposed software will introduce the learners to new data entry methods using property management software.

Needs/Problems The Wentworth Realty Company is a property company that is dedicated to real estate including retail, industrial, office, mixed-use, and multi-family residential. The company identified a decrease in work output as a result of the manual bookkeeping being used. An online training will be created so the adult learners can meet job performance expectations using the proposed software. Goals/Objectives Using a web-based or 'cloud' system allows the employee to update the ledger books from any location and at any time. The training will consist of a demonstration of the training procedure, followed by a simulation for practicing the steps, and an assessment to end the training. Instructional Technologist will collaborate with Subject Matter Expert to develop media suitable for presenting to desired audience. We will expand their expertise with instructional technologies, curriculum standards, effective teaching strategies, and assistive technologies to support access to learning. Develop objectives to (SME) specifications Administer Web 2.0 software tools to create an electronic guide. Adapt instructional materials created from one format into another such as face to face learning to e-learning online. After successfully completing this e-learning course, learners will demonstrate proficiency in creating a new data report. Successfully login to T-Rex website. Successfully transfer data from Excel spreadsheet to T-Rex website. Successfully identify and print income and expense reports. Identify backup data to personal computer.

Learner Analysis Entry Behaviors The learners have computer skills ranging from low to moderate. The solution is to effectively train each employee of the Wentworth Really Company in the use of property management software. The training will improve work productivity and increase employee job performance.
5

Prior Knowledge of Topic The learners have basic computer skills. The workstations the employees share are running versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. They understand the fundamentals of Microsoft Office and Excel and are knowledgeable in transferring data from the ledger book to an Excel workbook. The employees have used property management software before but it was outdated. Attitudes toward Content and Potential Delivery System The learners are comprehensive about learning a new training method. The employees are willing to participate in this training because it will improve the way they work within the office. With a self-paced electronic guide the employee will feel comfortable taking the training online. Interactive media and narrated videos will help the learner understand the material being presented. Academic Motivation The learners are motivated to learn new training methods that will help alleviate the workloads from backlogged order requests. The electronic online guide will feature different assessments and instructional media to help the learner understand the materials. Educational and Ability Levels All learners have received high school diplomas. Some other employees have obtained their Associates and are working on obtaining their Bachelors. The other employees have certificates of completion in several fields including secretary and administrative office assistant. General Learning Preferences All learners have limited computer skills in regards to using property management software. Learners might have difficulties accessing the website during their initial visit to the training. The software used to record the simulation might complicate the learners training because it involves inputting information into text boxes. The lessons in the elearning course are self-paced and allow the learners to understand the material being presented thru narrated modules called interactions. Simulations involving the software will provide the learner with hands on training similar to a real world environment. Attitudes toward Training Organization The learners are cautious about the e-learning training but are eager to learn new software training methods. The learner understands that the training was a decision management and is eager to improve their work skills. Management is eager to go thru with the e6

learning training because they see an increase in value with the employees work performance. Group Characteristics The learners range from early 20s to the upper 60s. Some of the older learners have been employed with the company for fifteen or more years and have accustomed themselves to the outdated software installed on the computers. Learners will work on this training individually. The learners skill level in regards to technology is low to medium. Learning Context Analysis Learning context analysis will take place in an office environment. This asynchronous elearning course will be made available online thru Course Sites. Learners will learn the basics of T-Rex property management software thru a software simulation assessment. The testing environment will take place in room equipped with desktop computers. The learners will complete four modules and a final exam. The final exam will depict a real world scenario using the T-Rex software. Performance Context Analysis Managerial Support: The Wentworth Realty Company is a property company that is dedicated to real estate including retail, industrial, office, mixed-use, and multi-family residential. The company identified a need for new training methods because the quality of standards was low. The company is willing to update the employees training thru new software training. Physical aspects of the site: The working environment where the employees will learn the training will be in their workplace during office hours. The E-Learning course will be available online. Comments and Revisions Made I love the interactive component of your e-learning course. The modules are easy to understand and the accordion style interface allows for self-paced learning.
32

Revisions requested 1. Create a FAQ and insert it within the course. 2. Additional videos can enhance the materials within the modules. 3. Module videos need to be sized for easier viewing. 4. Create a layout easier to navigate the modules. 5. Material is needed to support advanced features of our software. I was expecting to see constructive comments and suggestions in all areas of the elearning course. I discussed the necessary revisions with the evaluator during a scheduled online meeting thru GoToMeeting and made the necessary changes needed to improve my e-learning course.

Small Group Evaluation The small group evaluation was not conducted due to scheduling errors within the employees of the Wentworth Realty company. The revisions requested by the subject matter expert and one to one evaluation delayed my project because of the recommended changes. Field Trial Evaluation The field trial evaluation was not conducted due to the requested revisions made by the subject matter expert and one-to-one evaluation. Action Respone and Revision I reviewed the recommended changes and updated the e-learning course according to the evaluators request. One change I need to add is a video on how to navigate the web interface of the e-learning course. The video editing of each individual module required many revisions. I had issues with the narration of each individual module as I recorded them again. The Articulate Engage software I was using became difficult to use because the videos inserted within the layout were reduced in size according to the theme. The Course Sites interface is new to me and thus I had to become familiar with it in a short time. I was unable to continue with the small group evaluation and field trial evaluation due to the video editing. I will continue to revise this project in the summer.
