Spring Tours to Begin!

April 28 marks the beginning of the BYU Spring/Summer performance tours. 319 students and tour leaders from 8 performance ensembles will perform in 13 countries and 44 cities. We will send you weekly tour highlights while the groups travel.

Ballroom Dance Company- China

April 28th marks the start of the Ballroom Dance Companys three-week China tour. After landing in Beijing, the Ballroom dancers will perform at the Meet in Beijing Arts Festival and the Beijing Dance Academy. Full concerts will also be presented in Dezhou, Jinan, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong. Their show, Capture the Magic, has won critical acclaim in many countries. Concerts will conclude with two competition medleys which won first place at the British National Formation Championships in Blackpool, England in 2013.

Young Ambassadors Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam


The Young Ambassadors will depart at the end of April to tour their new show, Heartsongs: Melodies of Love. They will be traveling to Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia, where they will perform in seven cities. Along with their scheduled performances, the Young Ambassadors will present outreach programs to local schools. As literal ambassadors for BYU and America, the performers are looking forward to sharing their concert with the people of Southeast Asia.

BYU Singers-Idaho, Oregon, Washington

Brigham Young University Singers will tour the Pacific Northwest from April 28 until May 11. The trip will include 10 cities in Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. The choirs flawless phrasing and impeccable intonation, has gained international recognition and critical acclaim. Directed by Dr. Ronald Staheli, the choir will present full concerts in each city.

Chamber Orchestra- Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Turkey

Brigham Young Universitys Chamber Orchestra, instrumentalists drawn from the larger Philharmonic Orchestra, will be touring Europe this spring with an engaging program of outstanding music. The 53-member group will travel to Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, and Turkey between the dates of May 6 and May 24. With the cancellation of Ukraine due to political unrest, new concert opportunities had to be found quickly to keep the tour feasible. A member of the Church, and renowned Italian pianist, Massimiliano Frani, helped with the booking of venues and promotion of two concerts in northern Italy. Other contacts and friends of BYU stepped up to help add Slovenia and Croatia to the tour, turning this original 3-country trip into a 5-country tour. Guest artists will perform with the orchestra in Hungary and Turkey.

Living Legends Nauvoo, Illinois

In a performance of extravagant dancing, culturally-inspired music and intricate costumes, Brigham Young Universitys Living Legends celebrates the Latin American, Native American, and Polynesian cultures of BYU students. Their show, Seasons, will be presented nightly in historic Nauvoo this summer during the groups two week tour June 2-June 15. Spectacular choreography and heart-pounding music will bring these traditional cultures to life. From the graceful Hawaiian Hula to the Mexican Fiesta and Native American Powwow, Living Legends will reflect the cycle of civilizations and the amazing talent of university students from these cultures.

Contemporary Dance Theatre and Synthesis Nauvoo, Illinois

For the first time, Contemporary Dance Theatre and Synthesis, two of the universitys top touring ensembles, will perform together in Nauvoo this summer. From June 16th through June 29th they will perform nightly. Contemporary Dance Theatre performs from a wide modern dance repertoire, including dramatic, jazz, humorous, and lyrical works. Synthesis, the universitys top jazz band, combines swing, blues, pop and Latin styles in an exhilarating, highquality performance.

American Folk Dance Ensemble- Switzerland, Belgium, France

The International Folk Dance Ensemble will represent the United States as the American Folk Dance Ensemble as they perform in three premiere folk dance festivals this July. Their threeweek tour begins at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland where they have been asked to perform for a Fourth of July celebration. The folk dancers will continue to act as representatives for American culture at festivals in Marseille and Martigiues in France and Schoten in Belgium. At the festivals, which begin in mid-July, the folk dancers and the musicians share some of the very best and most beloved American traditions. All three festival invitations mark returns for the American Folk Dance Ensemble, and they are looking forward to touring Europe as ambassadors for the United States.
