Introduction Andy Warhol is one of Americas most famous pop artists of all time. He has influenced and helped shape our pop culture today by simply doing what he wanted to do. I really wanted to research this because, as an art history major, I want to learn how art influences the world around it and how the world influences the art. Ive done some research, first, about how Warhol has influenced the marketing and advertising field to find out how he affected the way the American consumers bought what they wanted to and then after that, moved onto just how he affected the culture completely. It was something that I really wanted to look into because when Warhol came around, the pop art style was still in the works even though the other pop artists such as Robert Rauschenburg (the father or pop art) and Roy Lichenstien were already very well known. The reason why Im choosing to write about Andy Warhol and not the others however is because, as stated earlier, no one quite came close to the amount of influence he has had on people. In one of my sources it talks about how the objects and themes he found inspiration in were what was popular during his time. He used national brands to capture the attention of his audience and it was something that worked very well. I have found multiple sources that help prove that by doing so, he had helped the marketing and advertisement industry immensely. He was also fascinated with the famous lifestyle and the people who lived it, hence why he was so infatuated with Marilyn Monroe and all that surrounded it which was much like the society at

Lane 2 that time. Because of the use of the brands and the acknowledgement of the celebrity lifestyle, he was the artist who people cared most about. He didnt only affect the advertisement and marketing side of the pop culture but he also affected the music and art side as well. Other artists tried to be like him in hopes of reaching success, which some did, and others were just plain old inspired by him. One of the main reasons why I felt like this was such an interesting topic to write about is because of the inspiration he gave to others, and is still giving even though he has passed. Lady Gaga, who is one of the most famous musical artists of today, has stated that Andy Warhol himself is who she was inspired the most by. She said that she read his book and saw his art and from then on she knew that she wanted to inspire others the way he inspired others. I believe that knowing that just one person can cause such an impact on a whole style of culture and help make it grow is something that is very important to know. Andy Warhol is one of the most influential people of the 20th century and his legacy in the way he impacted American pop culture is something that is to be remembered.

This article shows just how influential Andy Warhol still is today on pop culture by explaining how the world famous Lady Gaga was heavily influenced by him after seeing his paintings and reading his book. It tells of how when Gaga was growing up she knew that she wanted to be famous and wanted to be well known and that it hit her when she was reading Warhols book. The article goes on to explain how well Lady Gaga has done for herself in the pop world and that its all thanks to her inspiration from Andy Warhol.

This article talks about how even though its been two decades since his death, Warhol is still one of the most famous artists to this day and his works are just getting more and more expensive. They wrote that because he is a pop art artist and that his work is modern, the younger collectors are collecting more of his work than anything else. It goes on to talk about how Warhol himself talked about art and writes about his organization to help the visual arts as well.

They tell you what pop art is about how its about moving things out of their context and either leaving it alone or combing in with something for contemplation and talks about the differences between American pop art and British pop art. The author does a good job describing the differences and also talks about the Independent Group (IG) from London that had a part in the pop art world. Also, telling of the most important characteristics of the art is a good thing that she added to her article. Andriana Marinica is a 25 year old women who not only writes articles for Pixel77, but also is the PR manager for it and also for one other website.

Web. 24 Feb. 2014 This article is one that not only tells you that Warhol in influential, but explains it to you by telling you that theyre creating a lifelike robot to help sell his licensed products because of how many people love him. At first it starts off telling about his life and how he got into art and how he become the icon that he is today, and then it says how in 1988 he has thousands of products licensed to his name and that there is no way any of this will go out of style any time soon. The author states that not only merchandise is going to be for sale, but also that there is going be movies and books for admires of his to watch and read about.

Web. 20 Feb 2014 The author of this article did a good job in explaining how Andy Warhol still influences art in recent times. He explains how multiple artists were inspired by him and gained success because they used his tactics that were outrageously, for a lack of a better word, popular. He also talks about of the art exhibit that Warhols art is showcased in thats called Pop Life: Art in a Material World and states that if you even heard about art from the last thirty years than you should know some of the art practices that were modeled by him. One other thing it talks about thats an important factor to think about, is that Warhol, like many artists before him, had multiple assistants helping him with things he needed to get done, and many other artists also do that now because they were inspired by him.

The author talks about how Andy Warhol used a soup can for his inspiration and how he used that because it could be easily reproduced and how Warhol thought thats what America was becoming. The author also mentions how that just the like repetition and reproduction of his soup art, that that is exactly how the advertisements work in America. It also talk a lot about how in pop art, pop is short for popular, and it tells you the definition and explains different types of pop art such as kitch art for example.

In this article, its not a long one, but it tells of how there is going to be an art show with the most famous pop artists of all time. Its more of just an advertisement itself, but I believe its an important one because of the fact that if Andy Warhol wasnt that influential, then his work wouldnt be included in this exhibition.

The author talks about American culture first and how it revolves around advertising and size. The author makes a note that in America, its usually the bigger the better but that smaller things are better when dieting and when getting into shape comes into play. Later the author makes a good point in saying that Warhol tends to use advertising the way the advertising used Warhol. Its explained that Warhol tried to make his work look like it belonged on a billboard and that it was supposed to be an advertisement itself.
