What was accomplished and next steps

Accomplished: Took a critical look at the NGSS, specifically the HS chemistry and elementary standards. Consensus to adopt standards, assuming there are resources available. Next Steps: Look for resources, texts, and kits for elementary level. Check in with Donovan that elementary is on board. Then, recruit elementary teachers to trial the standards. Art Shared evidence of Standard Benchmarks: Unit projects, Assessments, samples of student work. Using AERO Standards and Benchmarks in Atlas Rubicon for Elementary and Secondary Art. Completed: review of AERO standards on ELA noting potential changes we need to make to the AERO standards to align them more closely with our needs and unique situations teaching English at LSN. Next Steps: Closely review and adapt the indicators of the AERO standards asking the question, How do we adapt these standards to reflect our role as an international school (not an American school). Craete a short list of questions for other ELA teachers on grade specific indicators.

Science

Look over and edit points added to philosophy statement on the teaching of science. Look at bookmarked sections of NGSS and consider the strengths and weaknesses of these and other suggested standards with a view to adopting and adapting.
