My daily job responsibilities were to assist the classroom teacher in managing the classroom, planning and teaching small group instruction for Math and Reading, and providing large group instruction for Science and Social Skills. I have been certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention strategies. I attended and participated in Treatment Team and CSE meetings. Through the position I learned to work collaboratively with a teaching team. Though my title was teacher assistant, I took on many teaching responsibilities in the classroom. While in this position I developed an alternative life skills plan and a reading program for students with cognitive disabilities. MORIAH CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT, MORIAH, October 2009NEW YORK December 2009 Student Teacher- 1st-6th I worked with a special education teacher that served many purposes in her district. I pushed-in to a 1st grade classes for Math and Reading. I taught a 3rd grade reading group and assisted students with their testing and study skills in a 6th grade resource room. I taught 1st and 2nd grade AIS math groups. During my time at Moriah, I taught students using whole group, one-on-one, small group, and learning center types of instruction. I attended CSE meetings and familiarized myself with the Wilson reading program. CHAMPLAIN VALLEY EDUCATIONAL SERVICES: August 2009-October BOCES, MINEVILLE, NEW YORK 2009 Student Teacher, 8:1:1 Elementary Behavioral Academic I worked with a special education teacher in an 8:1:1 behavioral academic classroom. I planned and taught differentiated lessons to children with varied abilities. I learned to develop a strong report with my students and many strategies to manage behavior.
