Open House
Open House is on Monday, August 4th this year at 6:30pm, and I am very excited to meet the parents of my wonderful students, just as I am sure you are glad to meet me. I will have more information about me and my policies in a printed packet for you at Open House. I am a filing fiend, so I appreciate making paperwork available to everyone. In this packet, you will receive an extra copy of just about every piece of paperwork and form I send out in Tuesday Folders for the entire year. Also, forms I send home will be available on blackboard and my class website. If you cant find it after that, give me a phone call! I want to make sure that you, as parents, are as comfortable and informed as possible and are not inconvenienced in any way on my behalf. Feel free to ask any questions that night and I will be happy to answer them.

Field Trip
The first field trip we will take this year is to the Lake Jackson Mounds. This is a Native American artifact that I am sure all of the 3rd grade classes are excited to attend. These mounds were built by the Lake Jackson Indian tribe a long time ago. Before touring and climbing to the top of the mounds, we will also play some games the Native Americans might have played when they were inhabiting this region of Florida. There is also a mini museum and a short video that we will watch about the
mounds and how they got where they are today. Tennis shoes and long or short hiking pants will be required. The mosquitos will be lurking, so keep this in mind if you have sensitive skin. Bug spray will be provided courtesy of Ms. Hunter. The best way to keep away any poison ivy/oak or mosquitos is by wearing longer pants or socks that hit above the ankle. This is sure to be great learning experience and a lot of fun for the students and any chaperones that attend.

Every year 3rd grade takes part in the school recycling project. The FSUS elementary schools goal this year is 800 pounds of recycled goods. Third grade is responsible for collecting at least 150 pounds. Since there are 3 third grade classes, we are each responsible for 50 pounds per class. Ms. Hunter and Mr. Broomes classes are also responsible for 50 pounds. Because we are going super green this year, and we have the advantage of having 5 more students than the other classes, we are setting a
