Cocaine's history
Cocaine one of the oldest known drugs. The pure chemical, cocaine hydrochloride, has been an abused substance for more than 100 years, and coca leaves, the source of cocaine, have been ingested for thousands of years by the ancient peoples of south America. Pure cocaine was first extracted from the leaves of the coca plant in 1859 and was marketed in a fortified wine in France as early as 1863. The first act passed to make cocaine a illicit substance was the Harrison Narcotic Act of 1914. This Federal legislation severely restricted the legal uses for cocaine and, for all practical purposes, ended the extensive use and abuse of cocaine in the early part of the 20th century.

In the early 1880s, the drugs anesthetic properties were discovered, and it was soon used in eye, nose, and throat surgery. And is still used today a local anesthetic.
It was even used for anxiety, depression and other physiological aliments in the early 1900s. It was also put in coca cola and sold as medicine that helped relive headaches

The high last anywhere form 30 minutes up to a hour or two. You can smoke it. Usually comes in the form of crack, cracks effects are felt almost instant. The high is shorter than snorting it, generally the high last for ten to fifteen minutes.
You can inject it as well, the effects from injecting cocaine are almost instantly just like crack. The high from shooting coke usually last any where from ten to twenty minutes
The highest rates of cocaine use in the U.S. are among adults aged 18 to 25, with about 5% of Americans in this age group admitting current use of the drug. But that being said cocaine use is used by all different age groups. Cocaine used to be a drug for the rich and famous. But the invention of crack changed that, Crack made it cheaper to buy cocaine. There is a long list of prominent intellectuals, artists, politicians, and musicians who have used cocaine ranging from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Sigmund Freud to U.S. Presidents Ulysses S. Grant and even George W. Bush has been reported to use cocaine.
Approximately 35.9 million Americans aged 12 and older have tried cocaine at least once in their lifetime, according to a national survey, and about 2.1 million Americans are regular users.
After marijuana, cocaine is the second most commonly used illicit drug in the United States.
Cocaine is the most frequently reported illicit substance associated with drug abuse fatalities and causes three times more deaths than any other illegal drug. Coca-Cola originally contained an estimated nine milligrams of cocaine per serving.
