Radish Lab Report Tony Montejano 12-2-13 3/4

Question: Do plants photosynthesize and conduct cellular respiration? Procedure: 1. We gathered materials which where an envelope, radish seeds, a petri dish, and (3) pieces of paper. 2. Then we placed the (3) pieces of paper in the petri dish and the Radish seeds. 3. Then we let the seeds grow on the petri dish for 7 days. 4. Then we measured their growth then we put all the little radish seedlings into an envelope. 5. Then we placed the envelops in a dehydrator for 24 hours. Hypothesis: My prediction is that the radish seeds in the light are going to grow more because all plants need light. If we have (2) petri dishes both with 0.5 grams of radish seeds then we put on petri dish in the dark and one in the light, then I think that the petri dish in the light would have a bigger biomass, because plants need sunlight to photosynthesis which then makes glucose and helps it increase its biomass.

Data/Analysis:

Radish Lab Report

Results: My results show that the radish seeds in the dark grew 4.6 (cm) and the color was yellow. The average change in mass was 0.13 (g). My results also show that the radish seeds in the light grew 1.4 (cm) and the color was green. The average change in mass was 0.26 (g). Discussion: My hypothesis was partially correct because the seedlings in the light gained more biomass but they didnt grow taller than the seedlings in the dark. They do both cellular respiration and photosynthesis. They were shorter because they started to photosynthesis, so they gained more mass because they got more glucose was given from photosynthesis. They were shorter because they started to photosynthesis so they gained more mas, because they got more glucose which was given by photosynthesis. They were taller because it used up the glucose in its seed to grow, but it also lost weight because it had used up all of its glucose stored in its seed

Radish Lab Report which changed the radish seedlings weight. A thing that I noticed that happens sometimes is that the taller the plant the lighter it is, and the smaller the plant the heavier it is. Conclusion: What I learned from my question is that plants do photosynthesis and cellular respiration know this because they were green and they gained in biomass. Some human errors that accrued were inaccurate scale, we might have dropped some seedlings, and also measuring. A way that we could do further research on this is we could get a larger amount of radish seeds to see if what we found out is also true on a larger scale.
