Shayamal Vallabhjee was born in Tongaat, on the KwaZulu-Natal

North Coast. He matriculated at Tongaat Secondary School, before


going on to graduate as a Sports Scientist from the University of
Durban-Westville. Shayamal has been actively involved in cricket

at a first class level since 1999, when he was employed as trainer to
the Nashua Dolphins under head coach Phil Russell. He has since
then worked with many teams, including the Griqua Diamonds,

of
Nashua Dolphins, SA Women’s Cricket Team, Indian Cricket
Team, and the High Performance Cricket SA squad under Gary
Kirsten. He is also currently involved with the South African
Davis Cup Team. His passion lies in taking South African cricket
beyond its own considerable expectations, while utilising the latest
