Dakota: We are just beginning a unit on money (ch. 10) and finishing up a unit on market structures and business organizations (ch. 7 & 8). The first half of class will be to introduce the new stuff about money and the second half will be to review old stuff that they struggled with on their quizzes. If you have any questions you can call me any time throughout the day (570-762-3074).

Lesson Plan:
1. Bell Ringer: (Slide 4 on Ppt) Give the students ~5 min. to do the 3 vocab terms on their Ch. 10 study guide (They were given this study guide last class so they should have it unless they were absent. There are extras if they need them. Also, they were given time at the end of last class to do the vocab so they may be done already) 2. Review the vocab terms from the last class. (Slide 5 on Ppt) 3. Thinking about money activity (Slide 6 on Ppt) Break the students up into four equal groups. They can choose their groups or you can choose them for them, whatever you prefer. 4. Give each group one of the Thinking about money worksheets (they are different for each group) Give them 10 minutes to read the scenario and answer the questions on the worksheet 5. When they are done, have everyone come back together and have each group share their answers with the class 6. After they share their answers make them think about why we use the money that we use today. Choose one of the groups money to use as an example and ask them if they were in a different place would that money have worked? Example: If the deserted island group says they would use coconuts as their money, ask them if they would be able to use the same money system (the coconuts) if they were rescued and taken back to a city such as NYC. Would people want to exchange their goods for coconuts in NYC? Why wouldnt this work, etc. 8. Lesson on chapter 10 Section 1 Money (PowerPoint slides 7-13) 9. Give them Quiz on chapter 10 Section 1 (this will not be graded for correctness just to see if they were paying attention. 10. Give them a 3-minute break if youd like if not thats fine! 11. Break them up into 4-5 groups and have them play the Question Cube Game (cubes are on the front desk)

They have never done this before but the questions I put on the cube are the exact questions from the quiz they took the week before so this is a review since there were some people who didnt do so well on the quiz. (10 minutes)

12. Give them the market structure flow chart and a business organization flow chart to work on for the rest of class (this is also a review)
