Brandon Paul Adam Padgett ENGL 1102 AP Feb/24th/2014 Annotated Bibliography Inquiry: What are the negative effects

of social media, throughout the different ages in our society? Proposed Thesis: Social networking is causing problems with people in all different ages from bullying to distractions. DeCamp, Matthew. "Physicians, Social Media, And Conflict Of Interest." JGIM: Journal Of General Internal Medicine 28.2 (2013): 299-303. Academic Search Complete. Web. 25 Feb. 2014. This was an important journal in helping me exploit the negative affects of social media. The article talks about how social media is a distraction at work and that it can also get employees in trouble. Employees might have content on their cites that give a negative outlook on the employee to their respected boss. I think it is important for an organization to have trust in their employees and this directly reflects how their image is viewed on social media. I especially think it is important for this trust in the medical field because this is a very important job. I would want a doctor who had a Facebook page that reflects his work rather than a page that shows how his friend might view him. Feiser, Craig D. "Emerging Issues In Media And Communications Law." University Of Florida Journal Of Law & Public Policy 24.1 (2013): 1-3. Academic Search Complete. Web. 25 Feb. 2014. This article is important because it talks about the laws against social media. In law, the article explained how it was a violation for litigates to use their social

media when a case was in process. The reason being that, the case could be persuaded otherwise by social media and the internet. For example if the jury came across a page made by the defendant that explains why the person may be innocent, the jury might be persuaded by this page and the trial would not be fair. Social media affects the workplace around our society and can have negative affects on how the job or work is ran. I think it is important for people to know when social media is acceptable in the world and it should be kept a close eye on. "Teens' Use Of Social Media: Positive Or Negative?." Curriculum Review 52.2 (2012): 10. Academic Search Complete. Web. 25 Feb. 2014. The author states But in spite of their widespread use of today's technology, teens prefer talking in person over texting, tweeting or connecting on Facebook, believe it or not, though many describe themselves as "addicted" to their digital devices. This is an important quote because it talks about how teens are addicted to their mobile devices. What I mean is that teens would rather text or chat someone rather that have a face-to-face conversation. This is just going to make first time encounters more and more awkward as the years go on. The use of social media should go down if our society wants to remain normal in my opinion. Wittke, Sharon. "Limiting Social Media May Curtail Cyber bullying." Gateway Journalism Review 44.333 (2013): 18. Academic Search Complete. Web. 25 Feb. 2014. This article talks about one big issue that comes with social media and that is cyber bullying. Cyber bullying has affected many kids around the world in a negative way. Wittke writes a suicide case of 12-year old Rebecca Ann Sedwick due to cyber bullying, researchers to know the impact of social media on children

and role of parents in preventing cyber bullying by monitoring Internet use of their children. This is important because it explains that cyber bull ying can even lead to death. I think it is important that parents get involved so that they can help monitor what is going on with their child. It is important to the childs safety and no parent wants to lose their child to bullying. It isnt fair for a child to be picked on through social media. I have even been cyber bullied in the past and it can really have a negative effect on someone. I was very upset with my bullying incident and I can understand the issues that follow cyber bullying. APPLEBY, LATARA. "Social Media Creates Copyright Problem." News Media & The Law 37.4 (2013): 25-26. Academic Search Complete. Web. 11 Mar. 2014. This article is important because it shows us another problem that is associated with social media. The main issue discussed in this article is about copyright issues with photos. Yunghi Kim was the woman who was focused on in this paper. Her photos for her project were used by a number of websites. Appyeby states Kim estimated, one image alone, if it had been properly licensed, could have earned $14,000. This is a big issue because people are not getting the proper licensing laws on their work that they post on the Internet. I believe that social media cites should some how have a way of protecting the work that people post on the internet. Its not fair for photographers who want to use the social media in order to show their work because its not protected.

PEER COMENTS I would give a quote or information from each article in each paragraph to help describe what the article is staying. In the last paragraph I would elaborate with more information and provide examples A few grammar mistakes I feel like the Decamp article is too brief and could use more information Your thesis may be too broad Maybe put some of your own input into each paragraph to help support what the author in each article is trying to say. MY COMMENTS I need to put more information from the sources into my paper to provide the information that is needed. Decamp paragraph needs to have more information Also include how each topic relates to the thesis.
