Week of: Monday, April 28 to Wednesday, May 14 Unit Name: Twist/Art History using the Elements and Principles of Design
Common Core/ NM Content Standards: NMVA-I, II, IV,V,VI, Essential Question(s): What are the elements and principles of design? What are some art movements I can use as inspiration in an art piece? How can I twist together 2 famous paintings and make it my own? How can I use 2 or more Principles of Design in an original Connections (prior learning/prior knowledge): Students are familiar with many of the elements and principles of design as we covered them early in the year, and have been using them through the year. Students are familiar with famous paintings such as the Mona Lisa and the Scream from popular culture. Students are familiar with art history movements from earlier in the year
Other considerations (modifications, accommodations, acceleration, etc.): Students who are advanced can do several pieces Students needing assistance will get more one-on-one help from the teacher
Resources/Materials Teacher: Handout on Elements and Principles of Art (project and hand out), various paintings (Mona Lisa, The Scream, etc.)
Students: Art materials of choice Images of famous paintings/books showing various art history movements Assessment (How will you monitor progress and know students have successfully met outcomes?)
