Department of Instruction and Teacher Education College of Education Columbia, SC 29204

March 17, 2013 To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to highly recommend Cyndi Hill for this educational scholarship. Cyndi is a student in my EDRD 445 class this semester. She is one of the most dedicated and conscientious students in the class which is not something to be taken lightly as her peers are also exceptional students. However, I see something remarkable in Cyndi as she demonstrates her desire to become the best teacher she can be. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to complete assignments thoroughly and thoughtfully. She is dependable as well as hard working. She has a positive spirit that shines through in all she does. In this class, students are required to spend time in homes and communities of children in the schools in which we work. This can be a challenge for undergraduates as it is often the first time they have been asked to step outside their own comfort zones to engage with children and families in settings beyond schools. Cyndi understood the importance of the assignment from Day One and never once shirked from that challenge. She clearly viewed the assignment as the responsibility of a great teacher. This shows tremendous maturity as a prospective teacher. I recommend Cyndi Hill without hesitation for this scholarship. Sincerely,

Dr. Susi Long, Professor Early Childhood Education & Language and Literacy
