Ingram English 1102-095 Midterm

1. I believe the grade I would be receive in this class would be a B. I believe I deserve this grade because I have completed all of the assignments given thus far. I believe that they blog posts are arranged in a thoughtful manner, but there is room for them to be improved. My e-portfolio can easily be navigated. I believe that in my e-portfolio I can improve on my use of quotes and giving a stronger analysis of topics given. I think so far I have a lot of room to grow as a writer. I can improve on my quoting because I have really not done this at all in my portfolio. One key concept I am succeeding with is curiosity. I have been very curious in the readings and questions related to the readings. I think another one of key concepts I am succeeding with is providing and receiving feedback. I make adjustments to my next blog post in order to improve from the previous blog post. One of the key concepts I am currently struggling with would be risk-taking. I am not sure how to take risks within my e-portfolio. One way I could improve on this would be to structure the blog posts in a different and more risk taking way.

2. I am reviewing Lindseys e-portfolio. I believe that the intended audience for this e-portfolio is Lindseys teacher. The purpose of this e-portfolio was to show the growth and work the individual did throughout the semester in her English 1101

course. This author seems very credible. She seems to be a credible writer because of the style of her writing in very convincing. She definitely considered ethos when she was creating her portfolio. My reaction to this e-portfolio is that it was very well written and well organized and very easy to navigate. The items she has in her eportfolio are organized very well. For the most part, she has everything organized in the order of when the assignment was completed. The arrangement of this eportfolio seems to be very logical. This text was written during the previous semester. One of the five modes of communication that Lindsey did very well was the spatial mode. Her e-portfolio was organized in a way that was very easy to read and to understand. Another one of the five modes of communication she demonstrated well was the linguistic mode. She was very well spoken throughout the various pieces of writing in her e-portfolio. The word choice she used throughout the paper thought out and she used it to convey a point she was trying to get across. Based on my analysis of this e-portfolio, I believe that this portfolio was very successful. I think that this portfolio, based on the portfolio grade scale, should deserve an A. I believe that this portfolio did fulfill its purpose.

3. My main inquiry question is What kinds of benefits do cancer treatment organizations give to the families of the cancer patients? This is the main question that is driving the direction I would like for my research to go. One group who would be invested in this question would be families of cancer patients because they are the main focus of the question. The families of the cancer patients would say there are many different kinds of benefits for the families. Another group would be

psychologists because they would want to see the results of the benefits to the families. The psychologists would say there are many different psychological benefits from the organizations. Any kind of therapist would be invested in this question because they would be the ones to potentially administer the treatment for the families. The therapists would say that the organizations have benefits for the cancer patients families. Some kind of representative from the organization should be present because they would be able to list the kinds of benefits and how they have been beneficial to previous and current families.
