French Telecom is a multicultural telecommunications corporation, originated in 1994 Offers mobile, landline, internet, and IPTV services since 2006 Name change to Orange S.A. in 2013 Current CEO Stephane Richard 170,000 current employees worldwide 230 million customers worldwide
Employees felt very stressed due to being moved around in company, little job stability, low pay, stressful commuting, excessive workload, fear of being laid off.
Led to an every man for himself work environment that led to mistrust and backstabbing. Employee numbers dropped by 22,000 in two years. Outside the company, Paris prosecutors office opened an investigation of the company after suicides; while media jumped on the story as well.
SWOT Analysis/Recap:
Internal Strengths
-system for lean management -recognized need to reduce workforce -hired a new manager to rectify the alleged known problem -company lawyer

External Opportunities
-attempt to rebrand themselves -change face in the media -continue to maintain market share
Threats
-sanitization of company, need to prove a healthy work environment is present to public -ethical boundaries -honesty in approach to investigation -Pariss Prosecutors office -French media
Option 1: Do nothing.
Option 2: Follow the company and suggest that certain personnel conduct an investigation to determine how and why this phenomena of stress and brutality took place.
Option 3: Conduct a separate investigation to determine whether this activity was illegal or legal.
Option 4: The final option is to combine options 2 and 3 and conduct each investigation, being as thorough as possible.
Support Required
Investigation into the company. Need to hire/bring in investigators to look at details of what happened and find those responsible. Therapists/Lawyers/Insurance companies/Other resources required to make drastic change to the company. Media cooperation to better the image of the company. Undetermined amount of money required to provide these changes.
