My Philosophy of Education

As a future teacher of the 21st century I have the advantage of studying the great
philosophers of past. The way I chose, and in some ways was born to teach, is what
separates me from my fellow colleagues. My beliefs, my values, my way of life, and my
heart are what mold my philosophy of education. My philosophy is not a tangible object
that can be taen down from a shelf, or something that must be called upon when the
time comes! rather, my philosophy is my life"style. To depict my philosophy I have
chosen to draw upon five characteristics. #ne is being an agent of change, someone
that has a mission to be a forerunner of a great cause. $econd is being optimistic and
hopeful, someone that sees the silver lining. Third is being interdisciplinary, someone
that can intertwine learning subjects as if they were woven together as a pair. %orth is
being motivational and supportive. &astly, utili'ing nontraditional teaching styles,
someone who does not just thin outside the bo( but creates his own bo(. This is my
philosophy, this is who I am.
I am an agent of change. I have the power and privilege of impacting the lives of
many. I have the obligation of fi(ing the wrong and creating something right. As the
students I teach grow, the very words I say and my every action are the fertili'er to their
growth. )hat I choose to teach will bend, mold, and shift the thining patterns of my
students. My lessons will literally change the thought patterns and social views of my
students on health and physical education from the beginning of the year to the end.
*ope. The word has such power and so much potential that it is a necessary
tool for any leader. +eing optimistic in front of my students is what maes me the role
model I am. ,ever showing doubt, never giving up, never growing weary. -hysical
education is a roller coaster of doubt and surrender for most students. It is my job to
lead my class to the finish line and to create bridges for them to cross over the tough
obstacles lie fear and doubt.
My classroom is not just a physical education room, it is a learning center. My
lessons are interdisciplinary, meaning that other subjects are bridged into my lessons so
that subject matter becomes transferable and relatable. The lessons I create form a
marriage between the other arts and physical education, to the point where my lessons
are obviously glimmering with the other arts. This alone maes my lessons more
applicable for my students.
The theme of my classroom is always motivational, always uplifting. It is in my
nature to lift the spirits of my students. I have a smile on my face when I am facing a
challenge and show that I am confident when presenting my lessons. I root for my
students until they reach their goals and always show support.
I do not thin outside of the bo(, I create my own bo(. I use non"traditional
teaching methods to brea away from the concrete and into the abstract. My lessons
are completely original and brea away from the monotonous teaching era of the past.
My class is not a .gym class/0 My class is fun and engaging.
