Free, easy help is available to all UNT
students! The UNT writing lab is designed to
tutor and aid students in writing areas. One-
on-one help is available on campus! Peak

General Information
The UNT writing lab is a product of the
Linguistics and Technical Communication
section of the University and is designed
to provide help to UNT students in need of
writing advice and grammatical aid. The
tutors on staff are trained and can help you
edit and revise papers, prepare for the GSP
exam, and refine your writing skills, as
well as a number of other services. Help
can be provided by appointment or as a
walk-in on-site, figure 1, or by
appointment through on-line services.
Location and Hours
The main writing lab location is found in
the Auditorium Building on main campus
on the first floor in room 105 (AUDB 105).
The Engineering writing lab is located at
Discovery Park B112. Hours of operation
include Monday-Thursday 9:00 A.M.- 9:00
P.M. and Friday 9:00 AM- 4:00 P.M.

Workshops Available
Workshops are run by our trained staff and
tutors and are free of charge for UNT
students. A calendar including all workshop
dates for the current semester can be found

Workshops are available each semester
covering a range of topics including:
o Commas
o Job Letters
o MLA Citations
o Resumes
o Revision
o Structuring Arguments
o Technical Communication Style
o Thesis Statements
o APA Style and Citations
Online Tutoring
If youre a commuter and dont want to
make an extra trip out to campus or prefer
working at home, online tutoring is made
available at the writing lab. This includes
real-time help from a tutor made by
appointment through
www.showdocument.com. Through this
online platform documents can be marked
on with tools by the tutor

that can be seen in real time by the student
and chat and editing tools are available for
communication. Appointments can be
made online through the writing lab
website or by phone and should be made
at least 24 hours in advance. Online
tutoring sessions are available from
Monday-Thursday from 9:15 A.M. to 4:00
P.M. Friday from 9:15 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

You may schedule a personal appointment
through the writing lab website or contact
the writing lab through the phone number,
both given on the back of this pamphlet.
The writing lab will be closed any day
classes are canceled, as well as between
semesters, the first week of any given
semester, all UNT holidays, and
occasionally for special workshops. The
writing lab will be open all other times,
and is open during finals week.
