Assessment
In order to aue !"ere students are !it" t"e material t"at t"ey kno! and need to kno!
t"ere are different forms of assessment t"at I !ill need to do in order to make sure t"at students
are !"ere t"ey need to #e. I "a$e different strateies for !ays in !"ic" I !ill assess t"e students
so t"at I can make sure t"e material t"at I co$er is #ein retained and also to ensure t"at I am not
i$in t"e students information t"at t"ey already kno!.
In order to find out !"ere students are usin pre assessment% I !ill ask students &uestions
on information t"at t"ey s"ould kno! !"ile oin t"ou" t"e unit notes. In doin so I !ill mo$e
on to more &uestions t"at !ill #e more c"allenin callin on random students at first% #ut if t"ey
are una#le to ans!er t"ey !ill ask t"eir ta#le roup% and finally if no one kno!s t"e ans!er I !ill
call on t"e class as a !"ole so I can aue !"ere my students are and !"at information t"at I
"a$e to co$er in order to make sure t"at t"ey "a$e t"e foundational kno!lede t"ey to et t"e
most information possi#le out of t"e unit t"at !e are startin.
'o make sure t"at I am i$in t"e students t"e information t"ey need in order to succeed
and also kno! t"e students are retainin t"at kno!lede I "a$e set up a fe! &ui((es and forms of
assessment to make sure students kno! t"e material. I !ill "a$e a !ritin assinment !"ere
students !ill defend t"eir c"oice for !"ic" re$olution e)emplifies t"e ideals of Li#erty and
E&uality. '"ere I !ill #e a#le to tell if students not only can defend t"eir opinion and kno! t"eir
information on t"e re$olutions% #ut can !rite a co"erent paper and present a ood t"esis. '"ere
are also some small &ui((es I !ill #e i$in students #ased on t"e *o"n +reen clips t"at !e !ill
#e !atc"in on ,outu#e. -inally% t"rou" class discussion and interaction !it" t"e students I !ill
"elp to determine !"ere t"ey are and !"at information t"ey kno! and !"at needs to #e
emp"asi(ed more.
'o make sure students are on track t"ere are ru#rics t"at I !ill #e "andin out for all of
our papers and t"ere !ill #e e)amples of !"at I am lookin for so t"at students !ill #e a#le to
see !"at I !ant from t"em and use t"em to aue "o! !ell t"ey.$e completed t"eir papers. '"is%
in conruence !it" rades on smaller &ui((es t"at are re$ie!ed in class% !ill allo! students to
see "o! muc" t"ey "a$e learned and !"at areas t"ey need to focus on !"en t"ey study.
/nce !e "a$e completed t"e unit !e !ill "a$e a 0nit 'est so t"at I can aue !"at
students learned from t"is unit and "o! muc" of t"e information t"at I a$e t"em t"ey actually
!ere a#le to retain. '"e test !ill #e a multiple c"oice test consistin of 10 &uestions. Also% I plan
to o o$er t"e 0nit re$ie! s"eet as a class and% t"erefore% #e a#le to tell "o! muc" students kno!
and it !ill #e ood for t"em to see !"at I e)pect out of t"em for t"e unit.

c"oice and can e)ercise t"at in t"e classroom.

a$aila#le outside of t"e eneral class time so t"at I can #e t"ere to "elp students !"o need e)tra
"elp and need t"at e)tra pus" so t"at t"ey can succeed and #ecome stron !it"in my su#2ect.
