Having said that, though, the Shimla-Sarahan journey isn't so bad.

The scenery i
s fantastic, and the bus makes several stops for food en route. There is a daily
direct bus but it should be avoided, as it makes several detours to minor villa
ges and waits in Rampur for an hour or more; better to get one of the many buses
going to Rekong Peo and get off at Jeori, from where it's easy to get a taxi or
another bus up to Sarahan.

If u go by bus, add an hour. U may not get a direct bus at your time of choice,
in that case u can take anything going that way - either upto Rampur and change
there; or if it's going into Kinnaur, get off at Jyori and take the first thing
that moves going up to Sarahan (I mean motorised and 4 wheels, a mule wud take l
onger. Maybe). Add another 30-60 mins for change-over times.
1. I wud say go to Sarahan becos the snow views are better from there. I'm sure
the accom is cheaper too than Banjara at Thanedhar. The best is HP Tourism's Hot
el Shrikhand. After that the only one worth considering is the temple's guest-ho
use - Rs. 200-300, clean, hot water, veg cafe - but all in the temple premises;
the loudspeakers will have u up at 6 am! Actually Sarahan is so small that they'
ll have u up wherever u stay.
