1. Homework
I've always had difficulties to make my students read assigned paragraphs form their textooks. If
students haven't read from their textooks at home it might affect the course of lesson. !o using
this tool I would e updated on how many students come to lesson prepared" or how many
students have prolems understanding these particular paragraphs. !tudents will e asked to post
their #$ word summary and one %uestion on their readings. !tudents will e asked to write their
names on their posts" that I could check whether or not they have completed their homework. &or
each summary and %uestion posted students will receive points which will e summed up at the
end of semester and will affect student's final grade. I am aware that there is a huge possiility of
copying answers from other classmates. 'here are not that many ways to avoid this" especially
when all the answers are on the same wall. However" there might e some anti(copying
precautions" for instance" no points for similar posts.
#. )xit !lip
After the particular lesson is done" students will e asked to reflect on each class" stating things
they have learned or explaining how this particular lesson's activities helped to meet lesson's
o*ectives. 'his exit slips might differ from lesson to lesson" ut idea is clear ( students will spend
some time reflecting on what happened in the classroom during the lesson. Again" there might e I
chance that students will copy other answer or won't post their answers at all. However I elieve if
this would ecame a routine practice students won't %uestion it. In addition" since these answers
are anonymous" there is no way to control whether or students complete this task.
+. )valuation and !elf(evaluation
'his is similar as with the exit slip" only here the reflection is not that exact and is roader. ,efore
each unit test students wil evaluate their skills" knowledge and preparedness. Again" this is
completeley voluntary" since it is anonymous. However it provides some few opportunities" that
students might find useful- a. doing this evaluation students may revise their knowledge preparing
for unit test/ . students are empowered" as they now have a voice ( suggesting what they would
like to learn in future/ c. students have a voice to critici0e my work noting oth" the successes and
failures. 'hese evaluations might e sumited at the end of semester and at the end of the year as
well.
All these three activities are %uite important part of learning process" however they usually are
forgoten" ecause of time constraits 1for each class there are # classroom periods in a week" each
23 minutes.. 'hus giving students an opportunity to complete these task online would provide me
all necessary data and would help to save instruction time..
'hese activities should use as daily routine. !tudents will know that each week they have to
provide # summaries and # exit slips" as long there are no additional directions.
4ast year I had 1# classes 11#5#6#2 classroom periods each week." so for each class I would
provide a seperate wall and seperate link. 'his wall might e used as a message oard as well.
Here is my sample wall-
