Kodly strategies that developed musical literacy, sight reading and ear training skills. Created lessons that
engaged students in rhythmic identification and independent listening of parts in choral music. Lessons
were centered to meet benchmarks of the National Standards for Music Education. Differentiated
instruction to meet individual student learning styles and special education needs. Discipline model was
based on Mendlers and Curwins Discipline with Dignity.

William Penn Middle School Fall 2012
Taught general music to students grades 6-8 in a supervised practicum. Lessons emphasized O Passo
strategies that developed rhythmic literacy and accuracy based on the Brazilian O Passo method. Created
lessons that engaged students physically in rhythmic identification. Lessons were centered to meet
benchmarks of the National Standards for Music Education. Differentiated instruction to meet individual
student learning styles and special education needs. Discipline model was based on DiGiulios Positive
Classrooms.

Littlebrook Elementary School Spring 2013
Taught classroom music to students grades K-5 in a supervised practicum. Lessons emphasized
Kodly and Orff strategies that developed musical literacy, proper mallet instrument technique, and
listening skills. Created lessons that engaged students in rhythmic identification and solfege strategies with
Orff Instruments. Lessons were centered to meet benchmarks of the National Standards for Music
Education. Discipline was based on Barrish, Saunders and Wolfs The Good Behavior Game.

Crockett Middle School Spring 2014
Student teaching experience in the Hamilton school district. Taught vocal music to 6th 7th and 8th grade
classes. Developed choral warm-ups that addressed choral and vocal issues in the repertoire while
encouraging good vocal technique and strong choral habits. Taught a unit on meter and rhythmic counting
that were formatted to fit specific guidelines given by SGOs set at the beginning of the year (Student
Growth Objectives). Taught lessons about Renaissance music and specific repertoire which were
performed in the Spring concert; conducted aforementioned piece in Spring concert.
