Sustainable Operations Partnership Green Team Program

We work with each elementary school to customize the Green Team program to fit their
individual needs. We also provide curriculum, interpretive materials and educational
outreach through class and school assemblies, as well as, community events.
Our current program is as follows:
Each school is provided with four-55 gallon green barrels painted a bright green.
The bags are provided by the schools since the cost of removing the material is
already factored into their budgets.
Each school receives a laminated thermometer poster with corresponding fun
visuals, such as animal weights, so the children may see the results of their
efforts.
Each classroom/area is provided with a sturdy cardboard container for paper
collection and Green Team lanyards/hall passes for the children to use when
dumping the collected classroom paper into the green barrels.
Each Wednesday, Volunteers collect the bags from the school, which are
approximately full and weigh roughly 65 pounds each.
Current Schools Participating in Green Team Recycling Program: Iron Springs
Elementary, Fiddlers Elementary, North Elementary, GPA Charter School, Southern Utah
University Head Start Preschool and Early Intervention. Our future plan is to expand the
program throughout all five counties in Southern Utah.
