5. A flywheel weighing 60 kN and having radius of gyration 1 m loses its speed from 420 rpm to 300 rpm in
2 minutes. Calculate the torque acting on it.

6. Explain instantaneous centre of zero velocity.
7. Derive expressions for normal and tangential acceleration.
8. Derive work-energy equation for translation.
9. Derive an expression for moment of inertia of a right angled triangle about the centroidal axes.
10. A wheel starting from rest is accelerated at the rate of 5 rad/sec
for an interval of 10 sec.if it is then made to
stop in the next 5 seconds by applying brakes,determine (i)maximum velocity attained (ii) total angle turned.

11. A post is held in vertical position by three cables AB, AC & AD are shown in figure. If the tension in
cable AB is 40N, calculate the required tension in AC & AD so that the resultant of the three forces
applied at A is vertical.

12. Calculate moment of inertia of the shaded area with respect to the centroidal axes.

13. A motorist starts from rest on a curve of radius 100 m and accelerates at uniform rate of
1 m/sec
.Determine the distance travelled when the total acceleration reaches 2 m/sec

14. A pulley of 600 N has a radius of 60 cm. A weight of 400 N is suspended by a string wound around the
pulley. Determine acceleration of the weight and tension in the string.
