Procedures
Restroom Rotation
o During homeroom, after lunch, and before dismissal, students will participate in an
organized bathroom rotation. There will be a chart on the wall separated into six
sections (See Appendix C for an example). Each section will have a number (1 through 6)
on it. Each section will also have four clothespins attached to edge with names of
students on them. The numbers will represent the order in which students will go to the
restroom. The students in square one will grab their clip and move it to square two, so
that during the following bathroom rotations, the same students wont always get to go
first. When the students from square one return, the students from square two will go
to the restroom and move their clip to the third square, and so on and so forth.
Storage of Materials
o Each group of desks will have a small bookcase at the front of it with cubby holes. Each
student will be able to keep their books and other school belongings in their own cubby
hole. Each group of desks will also have a little caddy in the center to hold pencils and
pens.
Transition from Subject to Subject
o The group leader of the week for each group will put back any books and materials that
are no longer needed into the students cubby, and then take out the books that are
needed for the next lesson and distribute them.
Bus Rotation
Classroom Jobs
o Mrs. Cromers Helper
Student will run errands and pass out papers
o Electrician/Caboose
Student will be at the end of the line and turn off the lights as the class exits the
room, and turn them on when they enter the room
o Line Leader
Student will be first in line
o Doorman
Student will hold open the door for the class when entering and exiting a room
o Librarian
Student will make sure that all books in the classroom library are neat at the end
of each day
o Computer Technician
Student will turn on computers each morning and turn them off each afternoon
o Germ Patrol
Student will squirt hand sanitizer on students hands before lunch and other
necessary times
Absences
o A binder labeled What Did I Miss? will sit at the front of the room. It will contain
dividers separating the binder into the five days of the week. When a student returns to
school after being absent, the student can check the binder to see what work they
missed. The student will complete the work during free time or for homework. If a
student needs to make up a test, it will be noted in the binder, and the student must
make up the test the day they return during recess.
Early Finishers
o A Challenge Box will be located at the front of the classroom. When a student finishes
work early, they may read AR or choose something from the Challenge Box. There will
be a jar with strips of paper in it, each paper stating a challenge. The student will draw a
challenge from the jar, find the challenge in the box, and then complete the challenge.
Substitute Binder
o A substitute binder will remain at the teachers desk. It will contain a class schedule, a
schedule of assignments, all assignments with directions, procedures, consequences,
rewards, contact information, emergency information, school information, roster,
seating chart, any emergency/back-up lesson plans in case of an emergency absence of
teacher, and a place for substitute feedback.
See Appendix D for explanation on implementation of class procedures.

Rewards for Adhering to the Rules and Procedures
CHAMPS Board Reward
o When the entire class is displaying behavior that the CHAMPS board asks for, the
teacher will draw a number. The number will then be placed on the corresponding
number on a grid. Once the numbers of one vertical, horizontal, or diagonal line are
filled, the teacher will draw a class reward for the students. The CHAMPS board is
aligned with the classroom rules.
See Appendix F for example of grid. See Appendix G for list of possible CHAMPS class rewards.
Treasure Box/Coin System
o A student can receive a (fake) gold coin for distributing excellent behavior (based on
classroom rules). At the end of the week, students will be able to spend their coins on
items in the treasure chest (homework passes, snacks, toys, etc.).

Consequences of Failure to Adhere to the Rules and Procedures
General Consequences (Minor Infractions)
1. Warning
2. Conduct Consequence (Behavior is marked on conduct chart that is sent home to parents each
week).
3. Removal from class and loss of recess to make up any missed work during removal
4. Office Referral (Office decides on further consequences)
Major Consequences (Major Infractions)
1. No warning behavior marked on conduct chart, and student will immediately go to office
2. Office will notify parents immediately and decide on consequence

Parent Communication
See Appendix H for sample letter to parents conveying classroom procedures, rules, and consequences.
Evaluation Plan
I will determine if my classroom management plan is working based on data regarding amount of
consequences and rewards students receives; I will look to see if negative behavior decreases after
punishment, or if positive behavior increases after a reward. I will make observations and reflect upon
them each time a reward or consequence is given; I will assess behavior of other students after one
student faces a consequence or reward to see if that consequence or reward affects behavior of other
students.
Data will be continuously collected through weekly conduct recording and daily lists of those rewarded.
Data will be reflected upon weekly during the first four weeks of school, and then monthly after I decide
exactly what is and is not working to be sure that rewards and consequences have a lasting effect.

Explanation on Implementation of Rules and Expectations
On the first day of school, the implementation of my classroom rules and expectations will begin. I will
have a large poster at the front of the class that displays the classroom expectations: Be Responsible,
Be Respectful, Be Safe, Be Positive. Then, I will go expectation by expectation and ask the class what
they think it means to be each of these things.
For Be Responsible, I will expect the students to take responsibility for their actions, always have their
materials with them, check for any missed work after absences, be responsible for their schoolwork, etc.
For Be Respectful, I will expect the students be respectful by listening to other while they are talking
without interrupting, being kind to others, saying yes maam/sir and no maam/sir to adults, keep
hands to themselves, etc.
For Be Safe, I will expect students to always conduct themselves in a way that will keep them and their
peers safe. They will be expected to keep hands, feet, and all other objects to themselves.
For Be Positive, I will expect students to always have a positive attitude no negativity. I expect to
hear them say that they can do it!
Students will likely come up with several other examples. I will verbalize any expectations listed above
that the students do not come up with on their own.
I will call out any student correctly demonstrating the class rules by saying, Sally is being very
responsible right now can you tell me why? I will have the class identify how Sally is following the
rules. When a student is not following the rules, I will ask that student specifically how they are not
being responsible (or respectful, prompt, positive).
I will also outline the consequences and rewards that come along with not following/following the rules,
and carry out those consequences and rewards from the first day of school.

Explanation on Implementation of Class Procedures
I will begin implementing the class procedures on the first day of class. Instead of throwing all the
procedures at the students at once, I will teach the procedure when the time comes that it is
appropriate. For example, when it is time to do the first bathroom rotation on the first day of school, I
will explain it to the students and have them do a trial run before doing the actual rotation. I will allow
the students to gain practice with the procedures throughout the first week of school without penalty
for doing it incorrectly. I will complete all implementation of procedures this way, except for my
absences procedure.
For my absences procedure, I will explain the procedure on the first day of school. Each day for the first
week of school following the first day, I will have the students tell me what the procedure is for missing
school. This way, they are still learning the procedure even though it may be a while before any of them
must follow it.

Appendix H
Parent Letter

Dear Parent or Guardian,

I am so excited to have your child in my class this year! We are going to have a wonderful year full of fun
and learning. I love having my students parents involved, so I wanted to share with you our classroom
rules and procedures that your child will become familiar with during this first week of school.

Mrs. Cromers Class Rules
Be Responsible
Be Respectful
Be Prompt
Be Positive
These are basic rules that all students can easily follow! Your child and the class will always have the
opportunity to earn rewards for following all of the class rules. Each week, your child can receive gold
coins for good behavior to spend on goodies in my class treasure chest at the end of the week. When the
whole class is following the class rules, I reward fun activities for the whole class!
However, when a student does not follow the class rules, there are some consequences. I always start
off with a warning. Then, if the behavior continues, I will mark the behavior on the conduct sheet that is
sent home for you to see every week. If still the behavior continues, the student will be removed from
the classroom and sent to the front office, where administrators will decide if further consequences are
necessary. I have a great group of children in my class, so I dont see these consequences happening
frequently!
Absences
When your child is absent, they will be able to return to the classroom and immediately access any work
that they missed. The can complete any assignments during free time or for homework, and any tests can
be completed during recess unless a parent or guardian schedules a time before school. A doctors
excuse must be turned in for excused absences due to sickness. Other absences will require
documentation to be excused as well. Whatever the reason, I will always do my best to get your child
caught up!
Communication
I am always available to talk with my students and their families! If you ever need to contact me, or just
want to say, Hi!, please feel free to e-mail me at Erica.geeting@gmail.com, or call me at 123-456-7890.
I will be happy to speak with you and schedule a conference if you would like to do so. I may also request
a conference myself when necessary.
Thank you so much for your cooperation, and I look forward to a fabulous year with your child!
Sincerely,

Mrs. Erica Cromer
