The importance of technology in education

In this every changing world its very important that children be exposed to as much technology as
possible without losing the standard educational approach. Technology is a very powerful and useful
tool for obtaining information. Today technology is used in almost every field of society. Within the
near future physical labor may be a thing of the past. As can be seen in various stores across the country
physical labor is being replaced with automated and robotic counterparts. Thus, education should
develop, implement, and enhance its curriculum to meet and fit students for an active role in the future
needs of society.
The use of technology has many benefits. Technology can be used for project learning, visualizing and
modeling, and enhance, exciting, and interesting classroom instruction. The use of technology driven
projects gives students the opportunity of intellectual challenges with a realistic approach of the real
world. They can also enrich their analytical and problem-solving skill during individual and/or team
activities. This leads to students finding, processing, and synthesizing founded information that can be
found using the internet and other online resources.
Using the internet provides the classroom instruction with a form of diversity, interest, and a vast array
of learning resource materials. Students can reach out to various people around the world in assisting
with lessons and instruction presented. This assistance helps with expressing understanding through
other peoples thoughts, images, ideas, and experiences. It also gives room for students to use
visualizing and modeling of numerous content areas to experiment and observe the every changing
phenomenon. Illustration graphics can aid their understanding. The use of technology most likely will
keep students engaged and on task. This use ultimately reduces the behavioral and safety issues within
the classroom.
With technology training provided through professional development, the teaching changes, gives
educators effective ways of reaching the diverse learning styles of the learners, provides a plethora of
assessment tools. It also builds a better working relationship between all stakeholders. Technology
enhances the characteristics of the teacher from teacher to advisor, content expert, and coach. This
leads to teaching and learning becoming purposeful and fun at the same time.
Personal technology-related skills to be contributed to a school district
From my past and current experience with and without technology I bring motivation and desire to
assisting the students in advancing their technological use. My desire is to using technology as often as
possible in the learning and teaching of the curriculum. The use of various programs, basic typing skills,
and software in education is a vital tool that I will bring to the district. I bring Gradebook, E-school,
Smartboard and Promethean planet interactive board skills, which can be utilized for the enrichment of
any current district programs. The knowledge on how to use various internet and on-line resources that
benefits all stakeholders is another tool within my possession. I bring the ability to train others in using
computer skills, software, the internet and its adaptation, and interactive educational programs.
