Tylers one week diet (1.4.13-7.4.14)
Targeted research
Childs nutrition
1000 calories a day
A toddler needs food from the same four basic nutrition food groups that an adult needs.
1)meat,fish,poultry,eggs
2)dairy products
3)fruits and vegetables
4)cereal grains, potatoes ,rice and breads
Toddlers at this age are moving from eating baby food to eating something more like adults diet. The
toddler years are the time of transition especially between 12-24 months this is because they are
learning to eat table food and they are learning new flavours and textures.Breast milk and formula
milk provided adequate nutrition for you child as an infant but as they get older its vital that they
need to get the right amount of food and nutrition.
Iron intake
1)You should limit your Childs intake a child around the age of 12 months should only be having around
16-24 full ounces a day. However you should start to increase the amount of foods rich in iron
eg;meat and fish.
Foods a toddler should avoid.
A child of this age has a higher risk of developing allergies from foods eg eczema, asthma .Also a toddler
should avoid raw hard foods such as raw vegetables hard fruits, whole grapes ,popcorn, hard
sweets. Hotdogs raisins and nuts, this is all due the heath risks

Why am I studying physical
development
I have chosen this area of development because: I think I will be able to
plan many different activities that will help me to observe Tylers physical
development.
At this stage a child of his age should be learning many things either
crawling or walking.
Children at this age should be physically developing a lot thats why i
choose physical development
I will enjoy studying Tylers physical development because: i know him and
it will be easier for me to plan activities or days out.
I will also be able to design and plan things that he will enjoy making my
observation a lot easier.
Physical development is a phrase that refers to the physical growth and
development of the fine motor(finger movement)and gross motor(leg
movement) skills.physical growth refers to an individuals progress over
thier bodies and is closely observed in children this age

Reasons for selecting this task title

The title I have chosen is; how well developed are Tyler's physical development skills compared
to other children his age.
For this task I have chosen to study Tyler's physical development because:
Tyler is only one and physical development is one that I can observe the most because of his age
group. Also at this stage he will be developing more physically than emotionally, socially and
intellectually.
I will be able to conduct relevant observation relating to my chosen title because:
Me and Tyler are very close and we get on well
Also because he lives very close to me so taking him out and seeing him will not be a problem.
Also because he is related to me as my cousin so I know what he likes and dislikes also know his
personal information.
All this above makes it easier for me to study him because i will be able to plan and design
activities and i will know more about his physical development.
Physical development is ; physical development is all about the awareness of the body,
gaining a sense of space and understanding health and what the body needs. This area of
learning looks at how children develop their ability to move their bodies, hands, feet and
fingers and use their senses and movements to explore the world around them. Children
also learn to take care of their body, by being aware of what is healthy and developing good
hygiene.

Dear michelle and jake
As part of my GCSE child development course i would like to make a
study of your child Tyler to look at various aspects of their physical
development. The area i have chosen to select is physical
development because it is more suited for his age group .I will be
required to visit your child at least six times so i can observe him by
doing different activities with him e.g. taking him swimming. In
order to preserve confidentiality I will not use your surname or any
details about where you live. If you agree to this please sign your
first name at the bottom of this letter giving consent.

Yours sincerely
Jade kelly

Swimming Reject I have rejected this because Tyler
doesn't like swimming also because of
the health and safety risks
Catching with a ball Select I have selected this

Football Select I have selected this because it will be

read and it will just be a waste of time
because he is un able to understand
Shopping Reject I have rejected this because it will not benefit
Tylers physical development.
Body painting Reject I have rejected this because of the risks it
could cause and because of the mess it would
create

beneficial and i will help me observe the
norms.
Sand play Reject I rejected this because i havent got a sand pit
plus Tyler dont like sand.
Play dough Select I selected this because it will be use full in my
observation because it will allow me to see
what he can create
