Abortion in the U.S
Abortion in the United States should not be made illegal. Making abortion illegal would
cause women great inconvenience. I have three reasons to why abortion should remain legal.
The first is that there are plenty of exceptions to when abortion is acceptable. Congress doesnt
have the right to control what people do in private. My third reason, its nobodys business!
There are exceptions to when it would be appropriate to abort. Guttmacher Institute
states that 73% of women who chose to abort cannot afford a baby now. Would you want a
mother and her baby starve to death because they cant pay for food? Having a baby is a big
deal and if some women arent ready for this responsibility then it would be cheaper and more
convenient for them to have an abortion. Also, women choose to abort if there are health
problems involving the baby and/or the mother. I believe that all of these reasons are good
enough reasons to choose to abort.
Democrats strongly believe in pro-choice and providing a safe and legal environment for
women to abort. Here is a quote from a member of the Democratic Party in 2012.
The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman's
right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion,
regardless of ability to pay. We oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that
right. Abortion is an intensely personal decision between a woman, her family, her
doctor, and her clergy; there is no place for politicians or government to get in the way.
The Republican Party has pretty much the opposite opinion of the Democrats. This is
why there is so much controversy over this topic. Here is what Republicans are saying about
abortion.

2012: We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to
make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment's protections apply to unborn children. We
oppose using public revenues to promote or perform abortion or fund organizations
which perform or advocate it and will not fund or subsidize health care which includes
abortion coverage.
Republicans do not support abortion and claim that Democrats are pro-abortion but the
truth is they are pro-choice. That doesnt mean Democrats encourage abortion, they just think it
is right to let the mother and her family decide for themselves. 3When it really comes down to it,
I think that the whole topic of abortion shouldnt even be discussed by a bunch of middle aged
men in congress. If people really want to stop abortion so badly, then why dont we all just
encourage safe sex and provide free birth control or something?
As you can see, the right to choose to abort is something every woman should have. We
need to keep this issue out of congress. What we need to do is focus on building clinics for
women to go to. If we dont, people will resort to unsafe and illegal methods of abortion. Then
there will be a bunch of women in jail that will be forced to have a child that could possibly ruin
their lives. The people that choose to abort probably shouldnt be parents so they will put their
kid up for adoption. The result will be overflowed orphanages around the country. This is a
problem that needs to be stopped. Vote No to illegalizing abortion!
