Title Study for streamlined and replicable climate change resilience
Duration and Date 28 October -5 November, 2014 (8 nights & 9 days inclusive of arrival and departure dates) Venue Seoul Human Resource Development Center(SHRDC) of Seoul Metropolitan Government(SMG) Metropolis International Institute Headquarter (MITI HQ), Seoul , Korea Participants Capacity & Qualification 15 participants in total (1~2 people from each city) Managerial-level public officials in charge of climate change or related field recommended by the head of a local government English speaking participants ( Participants lacking fair command of English language shall be subject to the forfeiture of candidacy) Officials admissible to Korea Officials with no experience in organized by SHRDC To provide participants with comprehensive explanations and best practices of Seouls climate change policy and in-depth discussion of specific climate change challenge and cases of the respective participants through the Action Learning methodology.
To ensure strong cooperative relations between Seoul and participatnts` cities in the field of climate change by sharing and transferring knowledge, technology and information. Purpose The program offers managerial-level public officials a unique opportunity to learn Seouls best practice regarding climate change as well as knowledge transfer through Action Learning sessions facilitated by experts from an international organization. Introduction Curriculum & Structure The program will be comprised of 4 modules. During first 2 days, in Module 1&2, participants will be divided by 2 groups to use the Action Learning methodology for learning. Module 1 will be an introductory part of the training program which will be delivered by two invited expert facilitators to give a general idea and challenges against major metropolises with regards to the theme and subject of the training. In Module 2, two facilitators will engage participants in exchanging cases as well as group discussions and team learning through the Action Learning methodology.
Following 3 days, through Module 3 & 4, participants will have opportunities to learn best practices of Seouls climate change policy by categories such as renewable energy and to experience related sites and fields. Module 3 will be the case study of Seouls best policy both in climate change adaptation and mitigation. Module 4 will be a site visit or field trip of cases introduced in Module 3. All lecture contents & lecturers , field trips and visit visits are subjected to change due to circumstances without prior notice
SHRDC of SMG will provide accommodations, meals, and transportations during the training courses, round-trip transportation from and to the airport, and other training-fees.
Participant shall pay for their own round-trip air tickets, but for the participants of the developing cities according to the LDC of ODA recipient list of OECD could be sponsored by SHRDC of SMGs discretion.
When the number of applicants exceeds fifteen, selection criteria will be applied. Seoul Human Resource Development Center (SHRDC) of Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) as a MITI headquarter will operate international training programs and seminars for all members of Metropolis and its institutional partners and affiliated cities in conjunction with other Metropolis activities and programs.
