2 LS WATCH INTRODUCTION The Life Saver watch is the watch that could locate the friendly soldiers in the combat situation between military and other forces. During combat battle many soldiers were lost their lives in the friendly fire which mean you dont know where our friends are or same people in our troops. For example, one incident happened in 2006 Cpl John Cosby died in the friendly fire during the raid at North Basra Iraq (Sean Rayment and Simon Trump (2006, Oct) after being shot by one of this own men. In 2008 Dave Sharrett, II was shot by one of his own mates. Lifesaving watch is the advanced technology watch that works on advance GPS and Bluetooth system to provide accurate location of the soldiers during the battlefield. The other features are basic communicator with sergeant and other fellow troops. Each Soldiers should check their watch during the battle because it will mark where the troops are also it will detect the heart rate of the soldiers. 3. BUSINESS SECTION 3.1 Vision To develop lifesaving watches with high cost that could help to locate the soldiers location and to eliminate friendly fire among them 3.2 Industry Analysis: Defense Industry Industry: Defense Industry. Increase in War around the world the defense industry needs some sort of device that could help to eliminate friendly fire between the troops members. Therefore US government needs some sort of equipment so they could be highest buyer power. Supplier power: Low Supplier power is low because there are lots of competitors around the world either supply best military equipment or worst/ unsafe military equipment to the defense industry. Therefore, it will create many choices for industry whom to buy from. Threat of new entrants: Low Since this is Defense industry for new entrant they have to face many barriers to enter the market (European Communities, (2010). To enter the market, its relatively expensive to enter. Need large amount of investment and to follow laws and regulation since the equipment will be used in the battle field. Threat of substitutes: Low There are few alternatives around the world this is because there are many barriers to enter the market, for example, they have to maintain high security with the nation that they are dealing with defense/ equipment. Rivalry among existing competitors: High This high because the competition is fierce in a market. There is a large amount of competitors around the world who deal with military

4 equipment. The overall attractiveness of the industry: This means that the Defense industry is attractive and makes high profit. Since they have high buyer power of major defense industry in the world also they have high rivalry among existing competitors. Where are as the Threat of new entrant, Threat of substitute relatively 3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs The target group of customer would be mainly for military, soldiers and army etc. who are fighting for their country or allies. HFES news (2007) shows that around 17% of deaths during Operation Desert Storm were attributable to friendly fire, also said "friendly fire incidents occur and will continue to occur. A military industry main aim is to reduce/eliminate friendly fire. Source from military history shows that in 1943 where the friendly fire incident for for New Zealander soldiers. The needs of Defense industry would be to save soldiers from friendly fire which happens amongst the troop members. Defense Industry wants this watch needs to cheap, durable, secure transfer data from it. 3.4 The Product and Service The product can accurately locate where the each troop member through Advanced GPS and Bluetooth system that build in a wrist Watch. On the watch different colour will show where the each soldiers are. The map on the watch will be downloaded from the Military database at the end it will reduce friendly fire accident among troops. Also, there are some special features were on this watch such as in build a security system that will prevent enemies using them when soldiers died in the battle. Also this watch has a heart rate monitor as well.

5 3.5 Suppliers and Partners The potential suppliers for this product include a manufacture of Global Positioning System (GPS) and Bluetooth. They will be our main supplier for this product because our system works under GPS system. Example of manufacture would be Coban. The combination of GPS and Bluetooth chip will fit enough on the small wrist watch. Another supplier would be a watch Material supplier, since this is a watch therefore it need a good supplier so the watch can be durable and safety to use it for example of supplier would be steel producer from china and Russia. The potential partner would be Marketing Agents. Even though we are in the defense industry we need sales agents/Marketing agents to promote our work to the various defense industries in the world. The example of marketing partner would be Frost & Sullivan. The other potential partner would be defense industry around the work because in order to make the LS watch we their support and resources for example, we have to use their Data Base, resources and other security requirement to install into the watch. For example of our partners would be United States Department of Defense, Ministry of Defense and etc. 3.6 Strategy: Focused High Cost The generic strategy for this defense industry for the LS watch would be Focused High cost strategy. This is because the competitive scope encompasses a Narrow market because it used for the certain people and only works for the specific industry. The product is designed for specific to soldiers on the battlefield where they want to rely on the technology in order to avoid friendly fire among them. The watch needs to identify the target and easy to use it as a result, we could achieve our vision statement and satisfy the defense industry. Also have to make a good research about the product in order to compete over the market out there. 11 CONCLUSION In conclusion the defense industry is highly attractive as it will maintain a first mover advantage if we are able to save soldiers life. Our main aim is to eliminate friendly fire among the soldiers within the group. The LS watch wants to create high cost focused market for the Defense industry because it worth in terms of safety, durability and special features.
