 For and Since are normally used with the Present Perfect to talk about
time.

The verb ‘to be’ + have + past participle + for/since

• Since is used for a point in time.

• I’ve been here since last year/since my birthday/since three o’clock
• For is used for a period of time
• I’ve been here for ages/for a long time/for ten minutes/for 15 years
