The second day's recollection was held at the
restaurant of alumnae member, Tricie Pengson-
Arcenas, Cellar de Oboza. Sr. Regivic gave a talk on
the
"Seasons of Life of St. Marie Eugenie", regailing
us with little-known facts about our foundress,
weaving her engaging story with the Iessons and
teachings of the saint. ln looking back at her life and
struggles, it seems that there is a movie script in
there waiting to happen
After lunch, Ming Roxas shared with us the song I
Beg to Fall in Love with Thee, My Lord as an
introduction to the spirituality of Marie Eugenie,
where she compared spirituality to a bridge, a way to
God. Marie Eugenie's spirituality, in common with
many great saints, centered in the
"knowledge and
love of Jesus Christ" because
"the
more we know,
the more we want to love God" so "knowing and
loving are intimately connected."
Perfect love and knowledge of Cod is something that
Bubut Neri said she was growing into. Recalling her
experience four months ago when their flight to was
diverted to Davao and riding an 8-hour bus ride to
her original destination of Cagayan de Oro with two
companions and a busload of strangers-turned-
friends, she said there was not a moment when she
grew afraid for their safety or that they would not
make it. It was one moment in her life that she
realized that her
"relationship with Him has reached
a point where no matter what happens, He's gonna
make things happen."
ln attendance was Mrs. Celine Dacudao Garcia, who
enthusiastically participated in the group sharing and
activity that punctuated the event. She was looking
forward to actively participating in the Catanihan
Foundation feeding center project as well. But it was
not to be-the good Lord called herto Himself a mere
two months later.
The Assembly fittingly ended with the anticipated
Mass at the Ateneo University.
The next Assumption Congress will be in Iloilo in
zot6; will it be Mindanao-Davao in particular-in
2o19?
