It is a common belief that a faith must depend on its own dogmas which never can be
questionized. It is even thought the grade of a believers faith could be clear with his or her
devotion to these dogmas.
A dogma is any idea, theory or belief claimed as undisputable truth. May be we can
come across it in a religious understanding as well in a scientific approach.
Every understanding or approach-religious, non religious- could have its own rights and
even it should be. But when it begins to impose upon everyone who believes it to not think
about or interrogate it the problem arises. Any idea, theory or belief which isnt examined,
searched or carefully considered and thought on it is doomed to collapse.
If we talk about the Islam, we can see some dogmatic approachs on it. For example, in
mucassimah which is an Islamic-based sect, the properties which is attributed to God in
Qoran, like hand, face etc., exist in real. It means, God has hand, face like us but we can not
know the real nature of them according to the mucassimah and every muslim have to believe
this case. But according to most muslims these words are kinds of a metaphorical use to
explain Gods entity and power. This sample shows us another important point: sometimes a
religion could be the only source of a dogma, but many times exegesisses of a religions
members is the real source of it.
One can say I will accept and fulfil what my religion say without questioning
anything. But it would be a lazy way to believe and when this believer meet a critical
perspective, his or her faith would get harmed and most likely he or she would become a
radical defender of his/her religion. Contrary to this, a solid faith is always built on a critical
perepective and a true, authentic religion always allows to its members to think about it.
