Is Government Necessary?

A good government may, indeed, redress the grievances of an injured people; but a
strong people can alone build up a great nation - Thomas Francis Meagher

An American Government has remained one of the greatest human blessings that no
other nation has ever enjoyed. Is a government necessary? Indeed it is. The purpose of a
government is to maintain order and prevent its people from any social chaos. The government is
an establishment put in place to satisfy the wants and needs of its people. Some may argue that
the government is unnecessary and is not beneficial to their needs. But, that is all based on the
status of that individuals well being. The government is here to create laws, provide protection,
and to maintain peace and order.
One of the necessities that is provided by the government is Law. Laws are rules that are
set in place for people to follow that lowers the nations rate of crime or injustice. Laws are
necessary particularly because it defines a nation by the behavior of its citizens. Without laws,
the worlds nations would be unstable. Often times when a crime is committed, people blame
society rather than the lawbreaker. This is explained in a quote said by former president Ronald
Reagan that states We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather
than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable
for his actions. With this being said, I believe that a strong reason why a government is
necessary is to create and enforce laws that benefit its people.

With laws, the government is in charge of enforcing those rules by providing protection
for its people. Keeping them out of harms way from those that decide to oppose the law. Without
enforcement of the government, a nation may be portrayed as one without power and respect
would be lost.. This is explained almost perfectly in Albert Einstein's quote that reads Nothing
is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws
which cannot be enforced. The need for protection is a necessity that is provided by the
government to kept stability and respect.
As a nation, the government wants to keep peace and order which means, stability and
balance. Whether the stability portrays to the balance of its economic status or if it was portrayed
by the social justice of its people, the service is necessary to keep a country running.. Peace and
order in a government also introduces the idea of harmony and equality which benefits the
stability of the nation. A world without peace is a world without just. Former president John F.
Kennedy states that It is an unfortunate fact that we can secure peace only by preparing for
war, This quote explains the involvement of enforcement to keep peace and order. This is why
we have services like the police, fire department, military etc. We have them to stabilize the
nation not as individuals but instead as one nation.
Again, some may argue the necessity of a government. But that all depends on their well
being. Maybe that individual is having a rough day, or maybe they choose to oppose the
government. But, if you were to side with the government and follow its laws, would you
complain? I think not. The government is for the people. Ran by ordinary people, just like us,
who care about their community. Its an establishment that was put in place to keep our nation
running smoothly by providing us with laws, protection, and peace. Is government necessary?
Indeed it is,
