An insect is a tiny creature that has six


legs and a body divided into three
sections: the head, thorax and
abdomen. They range from flies to
huge beetles, and they are found
everywhere there is land.

The abdomen is the last section of the
insect’s body. This part stores the
insect’s digestive system, reproductive
organs and sting organs.

The pair of antennae of an insect are


sensory organs that they use to smell,
taste, touch and has hearing abilities.
Antennae can also detect motion and
orientation, humidity and a variety of
chemical cues.

Insects have compound eyes, and
each eye is made up of many lenses
functioning in unison. This allows
them to see in every direction. Insects
can have dual vision system, which
means they can see both dark and
light and color.

Forewings in insects differ according
to their species. Some have hardened
forewings like bugs, while others have
soft transparent forewings like the

main receptor parts are located. Here
you will find their eyes, mouthparts
and antennae.

walking, running, digging, swimming,
grasping and jumping.

Some insects have sting organ or
stinger that they use to inject venom,
like the bees. The purpose of this
organ is primarily for self-defense.
For wasps, they use this for procuring
food.
