4 Life Opportunity Comparison Using gapminder.org create a graph of health (choose one of your health indicators) versus education (choose one of your education indicators) for your chosen countries. Explain the changing relationship between these 2 indicators over time.
Write a 300 to 500 word response to the following question (include in-text referencing of your sources).
Why do people in the two countries you have chosen have such different life opportunities based on the indicators you have studied?
(Hint: Think about conflict, access to resources, technological development, culture and gender inequality, etc)
5 Family Story Board Create a family based on the statistics you have researched from your developing country (include name, age and ethnic origin) In the character of a 13 year old son or daughter complete the following: Find a photo of your home and explain what it is like to live in your home (100 words). Describe your parents and their daily jobs (100 words). Describe your daily life and expectations of the future (100 words). Include pictures to illustrate your stories. 6 Bibliography. See guidelines below, www.bibme.org is a website that will also help.
Advice
Write the content in your book before you start creating the page. Think of the pictures you will need to search for. By writing each page out you can be sure that you will not lose your work if the computer crashes. Computer failure is not an excuse for lateness. Make sure that you use statistics, facts and examples to support what you are describing in each section. Maps, diagrams and graphics are a good way to convey information and make your website more visually appealing. If you dont remember how to use the Gapminder graph use the learn to select indicators and more tab found on the left of the Gapminder World page. A screen shot is the easiest way to display your final result on your website.
Building your website and submitting
Your website should have 6 pages in total.
To create a live website for free open an account at http://www.weebly.com/ This is an excellent and easy to use website creator. You may then supply your website address to your teacher on the day your assessment is due.
If you need help, please see your teacher before the due date.
Creating a Bibliography
Failure to include a bibliography with your work will result in it not being marked. A bibliography provides evidence of where you have found your information. Work submitted without a bibliography may be considered to be plagiarised.
You must list, in alphabetical order (by author), ALL the sources of your information. This list should include textbook (s), newspaper articles, internet sources, encyclopaedias, magazine articles or ANY other source.
You must include the authors name in your bibliography. For example, the class textbook should be listed.
Bliss, S, Paine, J. 2010. Geoactive 1. John Wiley and Sons Australia, Queensland.
If you are using an internet site, be specific with the location of the site and include the date you found the information (the internet is updated frequently). For example do not put
Wikipedia
Instead write Authors Name. (Date internet site was last updated). Title. Publisher (if given) URL [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Types_of_business_entity ]
IT IS EASIER TO CREATE YOUR BIBLIOGRAPHY AS YOU GO RATHER THAN ONCE YOUVE FINISHED YOUR WORK!
