"Senator Benigno C. Aquino III leads all surveyed presidential
hopefuls/presidentiables by a big margin.
In May 2009, Pulse Asia said the leading reason for voting was a
"candidate's being helpful to others (34%) while in August 2009, the top
reasons cited were a candidate's having many accomplishments and
his/her being pro-poor (20.3%). “
The survey was conducted October 22 to 30 with a plus/minus 2%
margin of error. It used face-to-face field interviews with 1,800
respondents.
The latest survey was part of Pulse Asia's Ulat ng Bayan series, which
it conducts on "its own without any party singularly commissioning the
research effort."

In SHANGHAI, CHINA : Politely but firmly pressing for greater freedoms
on China's own turf, President Obama spoke against censorship Monday,
saying tough criticisms of political leaders should be allowed and the free
flow of information on the Internet "should be encouraged."
The president's message during a town hall-style meeting with
university students in Shanghai, China's commercial hub, focused on one
of the trickiest issues separating China's communist government and the
United States — human rights.

Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao made history on Sunday
(Nov. 15, 2009) when he bagged the welterweight title, his seventh in
as many divisions, via technical knockout of Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto,
the reigning champion in that division.
The fight between Filipino Manny Pacquiao and Puerto Rican
Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas tonight goes to the
Pacman, winner by TKO! Manny Pacquiao put on yet another
dominating performance Saturday night, knocking down Miguel Cotto
twice and turning his face into a bloody mess before finally stopping
him 55 seconds into the 12th round.
The Filipino dominated from the second round on, putting on a
stunning display of boxing skills and laying a savage beating on the
champion.
The Puerto Rican, thoroughly beaten by a ferocious Manny
Pacquiao in a 12th-round TKO loss, was taken to the hospital after the

Former Optical Media Board (OMB) chairman and TV game show
host Edu Manzano is Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro's running
mate.
Manzano's decision to accept the offer to be Teodoro's running
mate was a surprise since there were reports that he was supposed to
join the Liberal Party's senatorial ticket in 2010.
He was supposed to take his oath as LP member last Thursday,
but this was cancelled. The LP is fielding Senator Benigno "Noynoy"
Aquino III for president and Senator Mar Roxas for vice-president.
Manzano said he did not want a repeat of his "traumatic"
experience in 2001 when he ran for mayor of Makati. The TV host said
he was forced to sell his house after running out of money for the
campaign.
Teodoro said that aside from being a friend and a school mate
at the De La Salle University, he believes Manzano's influence can help
him push the Lakas-Kampi-CMD's platform of government, which
includes sustainable economic growth and making the Philippines one
of Asia's progressive countries again.
Again, this is Marjorie Manaug, reporting.
